Been writing a new fic recently. Had gotten requested art from JazzyQ. I have to rewrite the whole story as I have a whole load of inconsistencies inside it. Finished half a chapter yesterday and the other half today and found out that they were both total rubbish.
I wouldn't worry too much about inconsistencies between story and cover. My story, "Fluttershy's Bad Patient", has a few of those with the cover art, too. But I kept the story as is, and I didn't request any changes. The cover is just that good.
As for not changing the story, well . . . . . I'm a lazy egotist.

Its not inconsistencies between the art and the story, its inconsistencies in the story itself that's bugging me. I write the first half of the chapter today, the second tomorrow, the third the day after, and I get a crazy jumbled mess that I have to rewrite or reshuffle, as I don't have time to spam out 2000 words in one shot. Also, my typing is really slow and bugged, thus it takes me two hours to write out around 500 words+. Its really annoying, but its just something I have to get used to doing, until I'm skilled enough with a keyboard to increase my rate of typing.
2986477 I'm not the best typist in the world, either, so I understand that. It's always a good idea while you're writing to keep previous chapters open, so you can easily look back on something you've written and see if everything clicks. It might be tricky if you use Google Docs, but it's the best way to keep track of things in the story as you write.
You probably already do that but I hope that helps.
Thanks! I'll give it a try.
I think I will at least.
