Season Eight Episode Reviews: Molt Down

This week is a Spike episode? What a re-”molt”-ing development this is!

Let's look at “Molt Down,” the episode that will surely be perfectly normal and have no long-lasting repercussions on a character's appearance.

Season Eight Episode Reviews: Break Up Break Down

I dread going into this week's episode. For today, we discuss matters of the heart. Romance, love, heartbreak, and all that rot. Which means we run right into the most loathsome of all fandom constructs, the kind of thing that destroys friendships and leaves the most brilliant of minds curled up helplessly in a corner, foaming from the mouth:

    SHIPPING.

    The good times are over.

Season Eight Episode Reviews: Horse Play

So hey, it's a new episode. Surely nothing to be excited about. Just another standard episode of a cartoon pony show.

    Only it's a CELESTIA EPISODE!

Prepare for extra spicy biased scoring as we look at Best Princess' newest episode, “Horse Play!”

Just out of curiosity... · 4:21pm Apr 11th, 2015

Why didn't the ponies just put some, you know, books in the castle? Seems like it's be a lot easier than ripping out the roots of Twilight's former home and stringing unnatural gems that show screenshots of previous episodes.

Also, Bulk Biceps is best masseuse.

Because she already has a library there, as said by Rainbow Dash in the episode. (She hung some Daring Do posters there)

*SPOILER ALERT*

It would have been easier, but the impact wouldn't have been as great. Books filled Twilight's home, but it's the memories that made it a home and that was what they were going for. Plus there is already a library in the castle as determined by Rainbow Rocks and the end of the episode so Book Horse had books before all of this. Bulk biceps is best masseuse, and I just loved Aloe's voice.

I think Celestia, Luna, Cadey and the castle of the two sisters have that covered. Dash even mentioned it.

Because she already has books in her castle, an entire library of them. Why would more help if the existing ones weren't?

... I think everyone else said it, there already is a library in the castle.

I do like that we now know Snowflake's day job

>Here for the show
>Not the clop
Fucking normie.

Because that wouldn't have fixed the root of the problem!

...

It was either that or doing what everyone else did and mention the castle already having a library. Just let me be original.

It would have been too expected and boring.

They put a tonne of books in there already. That's how Twi became aware of Sunset's diary in EqG2, remember?

This episode today was fantastic. Its comedic brilliance became most apparent to me when the Re-mane-ing 5 are gathered around the table and start hitting problem on the nose while remaining oblivious to it. Having the cast completely missing the point of their best friend’s preferences, along with critiquing the palace, the reminiscing of past seasons, and the service and memorial for Golden Oaks is the show staff going “Dang it Hasbro, this was stupid!”

Although like other times when it was felt like corporate was rocking the boat, this managed to pose a good issue for the characters to overcome and accept, and I’m sure the change will start to grow on me as well thanks to the great handling by the creators.

I'll admit that it seemed a somewhat awkwardly forced transition form everypony talking about Twilights affinity for books and book related accessories to suddenly deciding to gig up the old library's roots. Still, turning those roots into a chandler is probably a far more fitting memorial tribute than just leaving the burnt out husk where it was like a permanent scar. I don't really mind the memory-stones either, as the whole castle already has crystal motif anyway, and the way they are hung from the roots is even reminiscent of the Tree of Harmony as well...

img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20131126032543/mlp/images/thumb/1/12/The_Tree_of_Harmony_S4E02.png/250px-The_Tree_of_Harmony_S4E02.png

...my only real complaint would be that I think the memories reflected in the stones should limited to events that actually happened at the library itself.

Also, Bulk Biceps is best masseuse.

Not only that but he can pick things up using only his pectorals. Talk about precise muscle control.

I suppose others have said it better, but it had more resonance with Twi to see that they put so much effort into bringing a piece of her old home literally into her new one, along with little charms that would always remind her of the old days.

Also, am I the only one totally enamored with Twi's temporary hairstyle from the salon? I loved it, and it reminded me of like Spitfire's mane.

2973898 THANK YOU!
I thought I was the only one confused about that...
