What Can I Say About the Season 5 Premiere, aka Why Equality Sucks · 11:46pm Apr 4th, 2015
First of all, I want those ponies' official names to be Cutie Marxists.
Secondly:
I've grown to really appreciate MLP villains that unsettle me, and Starlight Glimmer is definitely one of those. I hope we're approaching an era of quality MLP villains.
But this episode spoke to me. Specifically the muffin scene.
Different talents lead to different opinions which lead to bitterness and misery.
One of my mother's best friends has an interesting relationship with one of her coworkers. She is a conservative, and in fact works for the Republican party. Her friend is, to quote Jerry Peet, so far left that she can no longer dance. They'll go to work, have a heated argument about their politics, and then go off and have dinner and have a great time. They could not be more politically different, yet they're the best of friends.
It gives kids something good to think about. Friends don't have to agree on everything; in fact, they probably won't. Even people who disagree on something fundamental or controversial can have positive personal relationships. Those only matter when they become a part of your personality.
Four clarinets out of five. For a great moral and a creepy villain, in spite of a lack of a good fight scene.
But...
...
...Will she return?
