Season 5 Premier · 7:15pm Apr 4th, 2015
Went in thinking it wasn't going to be good, came out rather surprised.
Episode only had one song, wasn't that catchy but still pretty memorable.
Plot was all about communism and how communism can only bring true friendship.
The villain is really likeable and had some pretty believable motives.
Overall I give it a 1/10
Why such a low rating?
There is no Spike that's why.
On a serious note it's one of my favorite premiers thus far
On an entirely unrelated note, Lazarus is chugging along at a rather slow pace, but progress is still being made.
I didn't watch season 5 due to my nature as an anticorn
But really, NO SPIKE!?
Why do people say that these episodes are about Comunism? There is no Comunism in there at all!
It's a common misconception among Western cultures that Comunism implies everyone being personally equal (like a copy-paste of the same character) when in reality it implies equality of rights, freedoms and possibilities.
The ideology itself doesn't restrict individuals from persuing any area of expertise or personal desires they chose. Historically-wise some of the said rights were somewhat restricted by the bad rulers, not Comunism itself. Ideology-wise Cominism is a guide to an utopic society which is just as good (if not better) than pure Capitalism and others. Ideology doesn't kill, doesn't punish... people do.
It is retarded to think that communists would want everyone as a copy-paste since a single man cannot be expert in everything and fit in all necessary production and society positions (due to human limitations), therefore there must be variety among personalities and professional traits. It never was about equality like it is portrayed in the opener.
So please stop spreading the wrong beliefs, it's bad enouh that 60% of Western folks believe this sh*t.

You do realize the communism bit was a joke right? The base term of communism is that there is no social class, and that everyone is equal. Which was a basically the villain's goal in the new episode (to make everyone equal). And historically, communism was never used correctly. From what I know of, there has yet to have been "true communism". And even if there was, I doubt it worked.

The joke that I sadly see in every 5-th post about the season premier, so I have no way of distinguishing who is joking and who actually thinks that it is true. I've met and talked with both groups.
I doubt that personality or their special talents can somehow be equated to social classes. It would be a biiiig stretch to say that cutie mark crucially affects how much money you make and what your life is. Furthermore, all these ponies were brainwashed into mere puppets... So no, it's not exactly the same.
P.S. Has there ever been a sign of separation on classes by cutie marks? I don't think so... Maybe the nobles, but those had normally-looking cutie marks or were born in noble families\inherited their destiny together with the fortune. If there was separation on classes, I'd assume it was by tribes, earth ponies being the bottom and alicorns the top. So what you really want to do in order to bring it closer to equality in freedoms and possibilities of a classless society is to take those filthy wings and horns away!
WE MUST SUMMON LIBERTY PRIME!
Stereotypical Communism ago!
Although... Sugar Bell looked better in her Commie form, that poofy mane she has is, eh. So did some others.
They might consider keeping the style.
Also, balloons, how do they work?
Not gonna attack you on the communism angle but rather state that it was more of a way for the show to attack Totalitarinism and cults than anything else. Which is actually pretty cool.
The only downside is that I fear that some impressionable kids MIGHT get the wrong idea on how equality...
Dude, did you see all those Rapefaces made? I know there's gonna be a lot of rape fics coming out of this episode. I mean, this was a dark one. As for the villain, i know she's gonna come back at some point, but she's irredeemable. Why? Bc Hasbro has pretty much hit their redemption quota, plus her ideology prevents any redemption. Trixie and Sunset just had big egos, which is fairly easy to redeem. I kinda wish the changelings would come back, tho. Or at least have some more info on them.
One thing i really liked about the episode was that the villagers saved the mane6 and themselves. Usually the mane6 have to save ponies, but it was the other way around. FS was more of a catalyst that got the ponies thinking and overthrowing their 'just' leader. Tbh, Starlight Glimmer reminds me of the social justice wankers on tumblr. So it was nice to see her get her comeuppance.
I was wrong in my last post. She's trying to cause Instrumentality. Her spear thing is the Lance of Longinus.

Tang! Tang everywhere!
And Giant Naked Cadance*
*:Because the Crystal Empire is obviously a scaled down Nationwide Transmutation circle
All ponies are equal, but some are more equal than others
