You don't ignore your Muse, once she's got her hooks in you. · 5:43am Mar 19th, 2015
I've been fighting a lack of motivation for writing (as if you couldn't tell), but something weird happened last week that fixed it. Kind of.
I found myself watching "Welcome to the Show" from Rainbow Rocks and realizing that, wow, that finale was actually pretty spectacular. Then the song "Got the Music In My Heart" got stuck in my head. Usually when that happens, I just listen to the song again to shake it out. And then I watched it again.
And again.
And again, and I am now forced to admit that "Got the Music In My Heart" is now my favorite MLP song. (Unless something from Season 5 tops it.) Which, naturally, led to rewatching Equestria Girls and Rainbow Rocks and realizing that, hey, all the songs the Dazzlings sing are actually pretty good. They also have really good designs, you can tell a lot of work went into them. And how much fun was it playing 'Spot the Background Ponies' during "Under Our Spell"? And then there was Rarity's Daft Punk outfit -
Ahem.
Yes, it seems this is something I have to gush over now - I somehow fell in love with this movie without even noticing. This in turn has inspired me to write again, after a very long and irritating slump, and I can't ignore it. And now I find myself writing an Equestria Girls story. About the Dazzlings. Learning how to be friends.
I know it's cliche, but you know what? I don't care. I'm having fun. And if there's one thing I've learned about writing fanfic, it's that every time you get an inspiration from new source material, you're going to write the same cliches as everyone else does at first. But you know what? I'm having fun, and that's the important part.
P.S. If you were as amused by Daft Punk Rarity as I was, have a look at this.
