The Evil Rewrite · 9:23pm Mar 12th, 2015
So, I've had a problem lately. Specifically, I desperately want to rewrite Rise of a Dragonslayer. I don't want to change the ultimate 'goal' so to speak, or the line of events that occur, rather I want to change how everything that's happened comes about. See, I've had a set of goals and ideas I've wanted to achieve, but the problem is that with the way I've handled things so far, I think what I want to accomplish would take a backseat for so long, it would be utterly unnoticed.
Secondly, I had the idea of introducing a possible new character, whom I'm actually considering to make the main character, if only as the character who's perspective I follow. Ornstein/Revan's role wouldn't be diminished at all, just it wouldn't be her first person perspective any more. Perhaps I could try and write each chapter from both perspectives if there's enough interest?
The ultimate goal of this blog post is to ask all of you, what /you/ think should happen. Should I rewrite it while it's still early? Or should I try and (quite possibly awkwardly) get all of what I want in? Or have you a solution of your own you want to pitch in? I want your thoughts on this, and though it may not be what I ultimately go with, it will definitely influence the final decision.
Rewrites are the way to go. If you're not happy with it, then fix it to your liking. Trust me, I have an 80,000 worded story that I need to rewrite after I finish its sequel. Not fun. Best to cut off the head of the snake :)
