I'm currently 4,300 words into the next full chapter, but I've been noticing something odd. I type the story up on a shitty Google tablet with a shitty keyboard/case in an app called "Docs to Go", saving it there and copy/pasting my progress into fimfiction's chapter editing thingy when I'm done. It works well enough, especially since the tablet is slow as fuck (it's been slow out of the box, brand new) and the editing feature lags HARD. I have no qualms with Docs to Go, but with the newest chapter, I've been noticing that the word count between the editor and Docs to Go has been puzzlingly different. I'd paste the entirety of my work into the editor, replacing everything there each time, so there shouldn't be any difference, yet the editor would always show a few hundred more words than Docs to Go.
I would have asked for someone to preread the new chapters side by side to compare them, but at the time of writing, the tablet i have my work saved is being returned because of a number of issues (unresponsive keyboard, teeth-grindingly slow performance, frequent freezing, that one issue where you have to have a charge cable plugged in just right or it won't work, eventually getting to the point where it won't work at all), so I can't do that.
This doesn't mean that the newest chapters will be delayed, but I thought I'd try to satisfy my curiosity.

Its because some word counting techniques could some punctuation as words.

2860931 I don't exactly have the cash to shell out for a new tablet. If I did, though, I'd be spending it on a laptop of my own.
Maybe Docs to Go doesn't count words like 'and', 'or', 'to', etc.?
Laptops are better than tablets

Have you thought about downloading another writing app? LibreOffice is a free and good alternative which is what I'm using in place of Microsoft Works.
