    You know what's hard?

Get your mind out of the gutters, all of you.

But seriously you know what's hard? Trying to write in a house with 3 extremely loud younger brothers, a dad who encourages them, and two TVs blasting either Lifetime movies or baseball. In other words...I CAN'T CONCENTRATE!

RATM: The Rebirth (Epic ain't it?)

    WAIT WHAT?!

Yep, that's right! I'm going to continue my first story Rage Against the Memes! After re reading it last night, I suddenly had little flashes of how to continue with the story. So I'm going to!

Gasp! Some actual writing by TheQwardvark?!

Yeppers. I've decided to cancel my fic, Punch Drunk. Why? I don't know a dang thing about alcohol, which was the focus of the story. So instead of just chucking it and letting go to waste, I'm going to put the prologue/1st chapter thing in this here blog post. I'd appreciate it if anyone could tell me what they think of it, since I will be writing fics like this in the future. Thanks and enjoy

Update and some Pondering · 2:44pm Jul 8th, 2012

It's been awhile huh? I haven't really seemed active on the site lately, haven't I? Well there's a good (although I would call it 'bad') reason for that: I haven't been able to come up with anything worth writing. During these last few months since I released the 2nd chapter of BM:E, I've been brainstorming ideas for where I want to go from here. Unfortunately...I haven't come up with anything new and interesting.

So I thought "Well it might be a good time to take a break from working on that story. Try something else. Anything else." And so around my return from my breakdown in June, I decided to try to write something different.

And so began a long, long cycle of coming up with a plausible idea, then rejecting it. I must have gone through at least 15 different ideas. I even began to write some of them, but for each one I started I realized that I wasn't enjoying writing that story.

And so I have come to an overwhelming obstacle. I've tried writing simple stories but always make a mess of them. I've tried coming up with new and original ideas, but I always find too many flaws in them. And I've tried just taking a break from writing altogether, but that's not what I want to do.

So what I'm basically trying to get at here (and sorry for my whining) is that I want to ask a question to whoever cares. What should I do? I'm completely lost.

Thank you for your time.

This is just an off-the-wall idea...

How about finding something (hobby, interest, something you can self-educate) that delights you enough to spend some good time doing it. You'll be likely to have ideas relevant to that topic coming out of your ears in a few weeks.

I get a lot of my ideas like that, just something related to my interest in science and tidbits of info I get from extremely random sources. Specifically stuff I'm really interested in, and I base a story off of it. I dunno if this'll work for you, but I might as well throw it out there to consider.

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately I'm not sure that my hobbies are really fic worthy. I have thought about combining my interests (i.e. anime and the Latin language) with ponies but I can't think of a way to do it well.
Oh well, thanks again for the response:twilightsmile:!

I am in a bit of the same slump. I don't know it will work for you, but I asked my watchers to throw out some ideas for a short one-shot I could write for them. So far it has helped me (I am in the middle of writing it now.)

That's a brilliant idea!:pinkiehappy:
Thanks a bunch!

LATIN! Latinlatinlatin. Perfect starting point.

I'm just saying find what lights you up, and if you think long enough, that'll apply in some way with writing about ponies. If you enjoy it, then even if it's hard you'll find a way to join the two areas of interest. I believe you can do it!

And for fun, and just in case these might spark an idea for you, here's my instant ideas for Latin:
Twilight is put under a spell by her evil ancestor, and she can only speak Latin (or the MLP pun-version, like, uh, Hockin or something) Edit! Gaskin.

In a fit of anger Celestia decides to revert the language to old Gaskin, causing mass confusion and a mystery to be discovered by the story's hero(ine)

Random Thought-Provoking Titles...
"Threads Of Communication"
"The Most Boring Lesson of All Time"
"Twilight's Incomprehensible Friendship Report, and the Consequences Thereof"
"How Not to Talk to a Greek God"
"How Not to Talk to a Roman God"
