    Where I've Been

So, I've been taking writing really seriously over the past year. I got 15,000 words out of NaNoWriMo; not bad for a busy month running science festivals. I finished the manuscript in June, sold my retro game systems the funds for self-publishing e-books, and joined a forum thread on one of my boards to write 500 words a night. I was feeling pretty good, especially considering I'm finally a

So, working on the next chapter. No one reading the last one got the hints about the new kid, who is the story's main kid. I'll give these out, and the first person (and maybe a few others) who get it right will earn a small OC cameo in HHH.

Now, the kid's an OC...but the mother is not.

Here are the first few hints.

    Hooves Holding Hearts Edit

So, I changed a scene in chapter four. I changed it because it didn't work, and others complained with a reasonable point.

It happens near the end of the chapter.

    Spoilers ahead.

    I mean, really spoilers.

If you haven;t read the chapter, it kind of ruins the punch to know this...

    Ready.

So, when John is confronting the father....

    What the pre-readers are saying...

Just so you know, here's some comments on the Hooves Holding Hearts chapter that drops this week.

"She had a really miserable childhood, didn't she?"

"Holy freaking s***! Nevermind Jazz, you are not worst parent anymore!"

"This is both heartwarming and utterly heartbreaking at the same time. You magnificent bastard."

    Story Progress!

Chapter four of Hooves Holding Hearts is off to the pre-readers! I'm going to try to get a C&D chapter done next, I think. I'm having to split time between pony writing and writing things I actually intend to e-publish for money, but I intend to finish the crop of stories I have, maybe saving a week in summer to write "Doctor Whooves and the Mare in the Moon."

In case you're wondering...

School Daze, Chapter 9 - 1,158 words
The Three Hooves, Chapter 2 - 1,475 words
The Three Hooves, Chapters 3 & 4 - 2,438

Things are preceding apace. Yes, that means I have more written of the two later chapters; when I got my inspiration for the story a whole bunch of scenes came out, and I wrote them and put them in order as best as I could.

It'll be a busy work week, but I'm getting it done.

another brain splosion

Working on three chapters of a story at once? Wow. How do you manage it? I mean, I know where I want to take a story, but I would end up with a self-contradicting mess. :twilightblush:

Imagine if you're righting about Batman, Superman, and Spider-man. You might think, "I want to have Spidey drive Bats insane on patrol." :rainbowlaugh:You get inspired, and write 800 words of that. Then you see cleary in your head a scene with Clark walking bewildered around the Daily Bugle until he meets JJJ. :raritystarry:That spills out onto the paper.:pinkiegasp:

This is how Three Whooves played out. One of the first things I wrote was an 800 word scene with Dinky from the final chapter. Writing that scene really helped me figure out what I wanted Dinky to do and be like in my head.

Now what I do, having those parts written out, is place everything that's not the current chapter into one word file. I copy and paste it into the order I think it will happen. When I start a new chapter, I paste in all the content I want to place into that chapter. I may have to change it. Bats and Spidey may get a few lines of dialogue changed or added due to previous events I in NO WAY foresaw.:rainbowderp:

The interesting thing is I already have a good chunk of School Daze's closing number AND 250 words of the sequel written.:facehoof: I need to get the next two chapters out.
