Current Project: "Stars" revamp · 9:49pm Feb 20th, 2015
All right, folks, I've got a confession to make... I haven't been writing pony stuff as quickly as I'd hoped to be this year. XD AS PLAINLY EVIDENT BY MY LACK OF POSTING STUFF ON HERE! I HAVE been writing, but it's been original stuff or things for another fandom so it obviously hasn't been posted here.
HOWEVER, I am going to begin an arduous process this week, a process that I have been putting off and putting off for almost a year now (specifically to finish WMHL, so I'm sure no one is complaining!) but one that I'm really excited to be doing now- a total revision of "The Stars of Darkness".
When I started writing "The Stars of Darkness" I was coming out of a very long stage of not writing at ALL, so a lot of the beginning chapters were very rough and did not flow in the cohesive manner that I've come to expect from myself. So, as I was reading the story aloud to my son the entire thing underwent a re-write of sorts through which I changed a bit of the dialogue, some of the scene descriptions and whatnot... basically, I went through and eliminated all of the rough spots that I saw and smoothed it out to be just a bit... prettier.
The plot is the same, the characters are the same, most of the dialogue is the same- in fact, you'd be hard-pressed to find anything I DID change!- but that's the point of the whole thing: I wanted to make it a smoother, more polished version of itself that I would be 200% satisfied with. I wanted "Stars" to be perfect to a degree that I would not be wincing whenever I asked people to read it, and I don't think that's too much to ask, is it? XD
The actual revision has been done for quite a few months... and now I'm going to start swapping the chapters out. I'm going to be taking them down and replacing them with their edited counterparts until all that remains is my "gold edition". For those of you interested, I'll be posting on here which chapters have been swapped so that you can go and re-read them if you'd like. Or don't- that's cool, too. Either way, I'm confident that the re-edited version will eliminate all of my spelling errors, dropped words and certain irritating fan fiction habits and put forward the face of "Stars" that I've always wanted shown.
