Just your average british lad. I write things for a living. It’s the strangest living you’ll ever find, second only to my inability to take myself off of the grid.

Now then, about this new villainess... · 4:51pm Feb 17th, 2015

I've been hearing a lot about this new villain for the Season 5 Premiere of Friendship is Magic, and never got the chance to openly express my thought about her. Well, I believe that now's my chance.

Now then, we don't know much about who she is, nor what her power is, but judging from the clips, she's a confirmed villain in my books. From what I've seen (Don't know whether or not it's true, though) she goes by the name of Mayor Marx...

There she is... Ugly bitch isn't she?

Now then, I don't have much to work with, so the rest of this Blog Post will be theories which could be proved completely wrong when the Season 5 Premiere actually launches.

The first theory I have for her is that Mayor Marx is actually another underling for an even bigger force, since she is seen to have the equality curse herself. Yet for some reason, she's able to control herself and maintain her sanity whilst bearing this burden. Oh, and by the way guys, be sure to remember that last part for the next theory. She doesn't realize that she's being used by another greater force, and just blindly does as she's told, just like the rest of the townsfolk. So, in short, she's kind of similar to Harley Quinn; The Joker's girlfriend/abusable side-villain.

The second theory heavily revolves around the fact that she too has the curse, yet seems stronger and more in control than the rest of the townsponies. Maybe, she was the first one to succumb to the curse, and was granted the gift of spreading it like some kind of bubonic plague rat. Now then, back to the fact that she has control over it. It seems that if she has control over the equality curse, then there's a high possibility that she could be immune to the darker effects of it, and that she'll actually be able to unlock its' full potential when the time's right. In short, this second theory compares Marxie here to Bane, another one of Batman's villains who's capable of controlling something highly unstable that could drive someone crazy, enabling them to do all kinds of dangerously insidious feats.

Another theory that I have also seems far-fetched here, but I believe that Marxie's spreading of the equality curse gives her immortality, enabling her to live for much longer than the average pony. I say this because I have a hunch that that collection of Cutie Marks she shows off in the trailer could be the very thing that could be keeping her alive. Since there are so many spaces on that wall, I have to assume that there were many other ponies who came to that town, and all of them fell to her almighty powers, enabling her to live for quite lengthy periods of time. Consider it comparing her to Mother Gothel from Tangled, but I see it as comparing her to Ra's Al Ghul, yet another one of Batman's villains, who was able to stay alive for over 600 years by youthening himself in an archaic fashion.

Or mayb- (Stardust to the face) Hewe we go again...

Luna: Now, now, little one. We've barely even seen that mysterious pony...

Celestia: Yes, Shadowmane. Let the gods above do the rest. (Tussles my mane and tail) You just need to rest your informative little head for the future ahead of you...

Me: Yes, Auntie Tia...

Luna: Now come on, it's time for you to sleep, while Night Mist continues writing My Little Foals...

Me: I can't wait ta see wat Nighty wites next in ouw adventuwes...

I knew eventually they would do a social anarchy villain. I'm interested. But also worried. Because they could have this villain fall into the writing hole that all villains do. But with the writers I think they won't do it. As long as she gets more screen time than Sombra did I'll be happy.

Also it seems like she is stealing someone else's color scheme, and that is evil enough too.

This is a really good inference about who this Mysterious "Mayor Marx" pony, but unfortunately we will have to continue waiting for season 5 to find out if you are right.

Your theories are quite interesting, and I have three more. One is based off the wall of cutie marks. Mayor Marx is responsible for what has happened to everyponies cutie mark. The reason why.... she either has a cutie mark that represented a talent she was not satisfied with and felt it was unfair that all other ponies should have a better talent then her own, since she felt she was meant for something greater. So she turned to dark magic to not only confiscate all the other ponies cutie marks, but use them for whatever she desired.

Theory 2, like your theory that she works for a greater evil, but she's only doing it because she has no cutie mark herself, and the higher evil tells her if she collects other ponies cutie marks using a certain spell he or she teaches her, then they will reveal to her her cutie mark in the future. And the mane six arriving, especially Twilight then interests this greater evil on what they can do if they apprehend her special talent.

Okay, last theory. The pony in question, Mayor Marx, is possibly, and this is a far-fetched idea, is the third sibling to Celestia and Luna, but had her Alicornhood taken away by evil means, or because she had turned dark herself. Now, how she got her alicornhood taken away, that's a mystery in itself. Now like you said, the cutie marks give her the immortality she needs to stay alive as a normal unicorn, but cannot grant her her alicornhood back. The reason I say that she's the possible third sibling is, well, cousin Blueblood. I mean, they never reveal how exactly he's Celestia's nephew, and don't go telling me he's like a distant relation/descendant, Because nopony calls him Auntie Tia's Great great great great great great great great x 50 grandnephew, and don't tell me it's just to simplify things either. There has to be a third sibling to the royal alicorn sisters to explain Bluebloods relation to her, and don't tell me he's an adopted nephew either. I want Hasbro's explanation on that one. Anyways, that's why I theorieze that Mayor Marx is not Mayor Marx at all. She just uses the name so no pony knows her true identity and, we can see where cousin Blueblood got his, how shall I say, stuck-upidness, from.

I do have to admit that I'm almost seeing a something similar to the season two premiere, but with a unique twist. Does make me wonder if uncle Discord is s- *tapped on the back of the neck with a sleeping spell, out like a light.*

Discord: Tsk tsk tsk, I thought your mother said it was nap time young prince.

Luna: I did, but you didn't have to go and do that. I'm sure he would have taken a nap this time without help.

Discord: Well, not much you can do about it now.

Luna: I suppose not. *Picks me up and puts me on her back securing me with a spell to keep me from falling, as she walks back to the nursery.*
