On the Anniversary of Fahr Drill · 2:39am Feb 17th, 2015
Today, it's been one full year since I posted Fahr Drill. And boy has it been a full year. There's been the occasionally hilarious Lord Mayor Applejack, the sweet and sour Scootaloo Will Fly!, the unavoidable The Unmitigated Disaster, the so-good-it's-average Nature in the Wild, and the "goodbye status quo" DayBreak.
Fahr Drill was the springboard for an entire series of near-future stories. Everything from Adventures to Comedies to Slices of Life to an entire oodle of Romance has been featured. Sometimes in concert. It is, all in all, an endeavor to build a cohesive world in which all types of stories can take place, and in which all stories hold consequences going forward.
More importantly, it's my excuse to ship whoever the heck I want to.
I intend to keep that varied mixture going forward. We got yer comedy, we got yer sad, we got yer adventure, we got yer Equestria Girls--
Wait, what?
Anyway, next up, half-finished, is the sad-ish Slice starring Spike and Apple Bloom I keep talking about. I was hoping to have it done in time for the anniversary, but it became a little longer than the one-shot I was shooting for. I intend to finish this one before I post it. Heresy, I know.
And after that's done, well, I'll probably draw one out of the hat.
Here's to another year of Ponies!
Oh, yeah, just to whet your appetite...
Coming Soonish!
Lightning Struck Home
[Romance][Sad]
Winter falls on Ponyville, leaving Spike to cope with a recent tragedy alone. While nightmares darken his sleep, Apple Bloom offers a bit of light. Will he step into that light, or allow fear to devour him?

Maaaaybe the next one will be more about sunshine and rainbows. Maybe maybe.
Next time on a very special episode of
DeGrassi HighThe Heart's Promise: Spike deals with grief, and Luna is clearly slacking at her job.Ok, that was a cheap shot, since this fic is not set in the Crystal Empire. I do look forward to some bittersweet toucing Spiklebloom.

If these two were humans, they would have graduated a year or two ago. They're nineteen, as the bird flies.
No, but it is set after DayBreak...
2803516 I don't know of any TV shows about the love lives of 19 year olds, actually. Once they graduate high school, we have to wait until they are old enough to hang around in a bar or coffee shop.
This did remind me though, I wonder more about life in the Crystal Empire. Is Donut Joe as big there as David Hasslehoof is in Germaneigh? Has he been knighted for his chain by Princess Canadance?
Do the Crystal Ponies get drunk on crystal syrup and start fighting each other at Ice Jousting games?
If there is anything emo music has taught me, it is that teenage romance is the most important thing in the world, way more important than running countries or stopping assassins.

Yeah, this is new territory I'm breaking into. Whoo. Can Nineteen Y.O. even have romance that isn't preexisting?
Man, I went to watch a fight and an Ice Joust broke out...
Anyway, Donut Joe is actually a secret agent as guessed by Pinkie Pie. Doughnut maker by day, Doughnut-Hole Seven, or Con Mane, or Agent Click Flurry, or Jack Tryan, or Manes Bourne, etc. by night. Knighted by Celestia herself sometime before the show started.
As for Crystal Empire Social Science... you gotta wait and see.
Indeed, but the best comes when the assassinations and the romantic drama are linked.

...You're going to cut away to a 40 year old dragon reminiscing to some longma kids about how he hung out with their mother in sugarcube corner and Berry's Bar, aren't you?
Oh, I always thought that Donut Joe was Con Mane, but I also know Celestia would have knighted him even if he wasn't, for making those great donuts.
Alright, but I do expect they all have pet crystal beavers, and the lord mayor of the Crystal Empire has a serious problem with smoking ground-up crystals.
Sounds like another Tuesday for Con Mane.
