    Quick Update

I do apologize for not getting the next chapter of The Light of a Candle out, but I've been preparing for the upcoming move and just haven't made the time to write. I've been debating on which perspective to go with and it's been kind of annoying.

Chapter 20 Update (I promise, it's the last one)

Chapter is now being beaten to death like the dead horse topics we love to argue over. Pick a topic, and I'll drag out the corpse.

    Should be out tonight!

    Chapter 20 Update

3300 words so far. I haven't forgotten. There were some changes I wanted to work through for one of the characters. I was not happy with the original concept and decided to delve a bit into Greek myth for inspiration. I hope you like it when I do publish the chapter. It's not done. There's one last bit to do for it before I ship it off to my editors for ridicule. I do apologize for the delay, but

Well, how about a peek at some of the first chapter? I've had a lot of time to plan this through and writing has finally begun on the story. Keep in mind, this selection is part of the rough draft, so it may change from the published product.

Enjoy!

“Sister? Are you sure you wish to go through with this? It may go badly.” Luna, younger sister of Celestia, Alicorn of the Moon, Keeper of Dreams and Lady of the Night noted the nervous twitching in her sibling’s wings. In the five years since the return from her banishment, the dark blue alicorn had adjusted well to the present, even to the point where the ponies she watched over had grown less and less afraid of her shadowy past. Many still feared her, some even thinking her to still be the dreaded Nightmare Moon, the monster which had possessed her for a short and sorrowful amount of time.

Her regalia was silvery metal, whispered to be made of dark Mithril, a sacred technique only the Followers of the Moon had perfected. The enchanted metal formed her torque and her silvery shoes, capable of encasing the Night Princess in impenetrable magic armor at a mere thought. Behind her horn rested her three pronged tiara of a single onyx stone set in silver, artfully crafted and unblemished with an enchantment enabling her to converse telepathically with Celestia so long as her elder sister also wore her golden tiara.

She was a head shorter than the alabaster beauty currently going through the process of forcing her nervous tension from her body and calming her mind. Unlike the starry mane of a vast galaxy billowing within itself, the larger mare’s curled and undulated the colors of the morning, shifting upon an aether wind. Both mares had the same effect within their tails. One was light, the other dark. Both were unparalleled beauties in the eyes of their mortal subjects.

It could be argued, between one mortal pony and another, due to her larger size, Celestia was clearly the stronger of the sisters. However, she was the motherly figure mares often sought to be when it came to raising their foals. She stood in the spotlight, even if it was not her wish to do so. As often as Celestia now tried to involve Luna with public events for more exposure, the younger sister found her reclusive habits pulling her to keep to her beloved shadows. In truth, Luna was the sword of the pair who attacked, while Celestia was the shield. At her peak, Luna, as Nightmare Moon had overcome Celestia in battle, forcing the white alicorn to use the Elements upon her in desperation.

“I know,” Celestia answered, casting a glance and a smile at Luna. “But time is short and we need resources and support as quickly as possible. There is much to do or we might lose all of them. I cannot wait any longer.”

“I am with you,” assured Luna firmly. “Rest assured there will be many on the Council who will agree with you, but there might be enough resistance to make this a battle best suited for your considerable political cunning.”

“I think you the better strategist when it comes to politics,” replied Celestia with a wan smile. “I fear many of my orchestrations have been rather clumsy in my inability to strike while the moment presented itself. I fear too much in the harm I might cause.” It was an admission she would never had made to anypony else, save the very sister she was happily reunited with. It was like being whole again after many lifetimes living like a cripple missing her best parts. “Too set in my ways,” she added with a rueful laugh.

A guard opened the door partly and peered in. Upon spotting the diarchs, he bowed formally and said quietly, “The Council and guests await you, Majesties.”

“Thank you,” Celestia said to him before giving her sister one last glance. “Game face, sister mine.”

Luna snorted, flicking an ear as she held her head up high, pointing her snout to the air exaggeratingly. “Hmph! I always have my ‘game face’ on.” Both sisters shared quick grins before the double doors opened, revealing the Immortal Sisters in all their regal glory before the Council and guests.

Before them was a rather large room with a vaulted ceiling filled with mosaics. It was twice as long as it was wide, with great windows stretching from the floor to the corner where the wall met the ceiling. Great curtains of gold and pearl were drawn back, letting in the light of the late afternoon. This hall was a favored place for important and private meetings to be held with specific parties and ponies. It was needed when large groups had to be addressed. Before them were the various ministers who helped run the government of Equestria. They were all proven ponies; intelligent and very good at their jobs. Most were nobles, all had been selected by Princess Celestia to fill their respective roles.

If you have any thoughts or comments, feel free to put them below, or PM me if you wish.

Working Title to this point is "The Sun in Verse, the Moon in Light". It might end up just being the chapter title. I dunno. Needed something to work with.

I think this will be as much a story about two sisters reconnecting as it is an effort to save humanity. Expect the first chapter to be done by the end of the month (at the earliest). Mid-March at the latest.

Pressing control+F I didn't find changelings or Queen Chrysalis in this! NOT READING...
*Performs Berseker Soul on you*

Just kidding this is going to be awesome.

2794153 Eh, changeling stuff coming. The next MDC chapter has been started, so no worries there!

2794174 I myself have written something for Valentine's with QC and Twilight in it. I could show you... If you wish come up on skype to talk :D

2794181 Already on it.
Where have you been?:trollestia:

Don't make the Council a bunch of arrogant jackasses, been done to death and was stupid the first time

2794210 Noted. Keep in mind, this will have more of the Love and Tolerance people have come to expect from Celestia's thousand years of watching over her ponies and guiding them. However, the focus will be on things that are practical and require serious discussion. One simply does not bring over a whole new species into a new world without taking into consideration the numerous ramifications behind such an undertaking.

Politics will always happen. Deals will be made. There will be arguments, disagreements and other things that happen when the unknown is placed before not only a race, but a world full of sapient species. It's not going to be just a chapter and - BAM! HUMANS R FRIENDZ!!

I'm trying to give this some realism...with genuine concerns.

2794235
Just far too often anything with nobility tend to be anything but noble. Take a look at Project Sunflow

2794238 Nah, nothing like that. I love that story, but I want the nobility to actually be servants of the nation and not the other way around. Having them as the punching bags of douchebaggery does get old.

2794253
In Sunflower they did think more for the nation, some of them happen to be asses. Still good luck with that, some will try to argue with you on that, it happens that a lot of Americans can have a very narrow view on nobility.

2794262 It'll be a fun challenge. I'll have pre readers keeping me from making too many mistakes.

2794288 Haters do not exist. They are simply misguided critics.

Nice to see things are moving along, I am sure many are eager to see this.

Interesting. The previous one-shot was a nice experience and I hope this is handled well.

And I have to admit, "The Sun In Verse, The Moon In Light" does sound more like a chapter title in this context.

Best of luck.

and it's back... the sudden verse you made

2795270 I am writing as we speak.
