Long Overdue Cancellation Notice · 3:42pm Feb 8th, 2015
I hate cancelling stories, because I hate when stories I'm reading get cancelled. I'm not presumptuous enough to believe there were many people ever interested in 'My Little Walking Dead' (which is frankly a terrible name, looking back at it now), but even if there was just one person hoping I might finish it, I feel like I've let them down, and according to the story's statistics, 23 people were following it.
Unlike certain other stories I've cancelled in the past (e.g. my Don't Starve crossover), I'm not going to un-submit this story. Not sure why, I did like what I had written so far, and I particularly liked the format I chose to write it in, even though it was that very format that was the reason I was never going to see it through. Seriously, choose your own adventure stories are hard to write, it's important to make sure that all story branches are just as strong as one another, rather than making one or two really in-depth while getting lazy for the rest.
For anyone who's interested, there was going to be a total of 30 choices across the different story branches, and a total of 16 different endings. The different branches would explore very different events, from finding a cure to giving into cannibalism. My goal was to have it so that no choice or ending would be 100% good or bad, but always a mixture of both, much like the Walking Dead game itself. The final structure of the story would end up looking like this:
So that's that, while I still hope to finish my Daring Do story someday soon, I am officially putting this story to rest. Apologies to anyone who hoped it would come out of its seemingly indefinite hiatus.
It's a shame. I was one of the few that did favourite it, But judging by this post I don't really blame you for ending it.
Is there any chance in the far future that you would take your favourite arc and turn it into a straight story?
2783879 I not going to give you any false hope, I never see myself resurrecting this story in any way
Too bad i discovered it too late.
