RIP Internet · 8:50pm Feb 4th, 2015
My home internet is dead. I am now relying entirely on my phone's signal to connect to the web, and my area has appallingly bad reception. Half the time I can't connect at all, the other half it takes five minutes to load each page.
This is really bad from the viewpoint of writing, since I am not only being forced to use the mobile site to write my stories, but also limited in the time where I get to do that at all.
I'm still working, it's just going to take a while longer if the current situation remains in place. Right now, my phone is about the only thing still working, so if I go AWOL for a week, you can safely assume that the gods of malfunctioning technology have paid me another visit.
Too bad. Did you at least get your PC fixed?

Sadly, no, it's still in for repairs. Even if it was fixed I wouldn't be able to use it without an internet connection, at least not without going through really convoluted means.
If I had my PC back I'd probably just screenshot where I've written up to and carry on offline following on from that, but it might be a few more days until it's fixed.
Hell, one time I tried to get my PC fixed by these guys (unfortunately the only ones in the area) it took a month and a half and then it broke again in the exact same way less than a week after that.
There is a reason I refer to that place as 'android hell' (besides wanting to reference Portal), and I can only hope they do a good job this time.

... Why wouldn't you be able to use your PC without an internet connection? Barring the obvious lack of web-browsing, I mean.
Or do you mean for writing? Ah. Well, I've never tried to upload text from a mobile, so it might not be possible to transfer word processing documents from a PC to a mobile easily, I suppose.

I stopped writing the chapters as word documents after my computer died last time and wiped them all. Since then, I've written them directly onto FimFic, which means that they aren't at risk of deletion if my computer dies but also means I need an internet connection to access them at all.
The only way I could continue without internet would be to use my phone to screenshot the end of what I've currently got and then write the rest in a word document so I could upload it when I have internet again. Until my PC's back, though, I can't even use that workaround.

Ah, that is problematic, then. Have you considered a library? I don't know if you'd be uncomfortable using one for this kind of thing or not, but they do usually have free public internet access computers.

There aren't any libraries close enough that I wouldn't have to drive. There used to be one 15 minutes' walk away, but it closed down and I never did find out what happened to the staff there.
I could use my school library, but I am technically breaking the terms of use by accessing FimFic on the college WiFi, so it's pretty much inevitable that they'd kick my ass if I tried to write pony fanfics in the library.

Better not, then. Well, my condolences and lets hope all your broken stuff gets fixed soon.
