Trying to get back into the habit of writing, so writing something here. Today, some chatter about minecraft.
My current project involves an Agrarian Skies game, where I'm trying to get done as many of the quest goals as I can. Between one thing and another, I've got most of the basic resources I need, but the Thaumcraft stuff is giving me some trouble. Specifically, collecting the essentia I need for some of the projects. With most of the rest of the goals, it's just a matter of time, waiting for the various automation systems give me enough of the items for the hoarding quests.
Thermal Expansion, MFR, and Extra Utilities seem like old friends at this point, and have been helping with the basic resources; metal, glass, cobblestone, gems, etc.
Thermal remains my favorite for doubling ores. MFR is... eh, it's a good choice for automating the farming stuff, but it doesn't seem as easy to work with as Thermal; still, it's easier than the Forestry options for the same. Extra Utilities gives some nice early-game power systems, but this modpack disables the pipes. Tinker's construct is good for the early double metal, and remains my favorite for making nifty tools/weapons. I just wish it made it easier to mass-produce stuff.
I've yet to find use for Thaumcraft & Blood Magic aside from advancing their somewhat obscure tech-trees. Forestry, aka "Bees and trees", also hasn't revealed much use, aside from maybe making purple dyes easier to get. Breeding bees to get special produce takes too long vs using the sieves and auto-activators from Thermal Expansion.
One of the key choices that's made this run easier than prior runs was building a mob-grinder for my mob farm. Another was building a jetpack, which was more a "quality of life" thing, but also very nice.
hi hi
Getting started is often the hardest part, it always takes me forever to just get past the first few paragraphs. Once the characters are introduced though, things usually pick up momentum on their own.
