Mario Pinball Land GBA review · 11:18am Jan 29th, 2015
Fun Fact: I never beaten this game. I got nothing else.
Story:
Some new carnival ride that turns people into balls and launches them from a cannon. Peach gives it a try but two random goombas direct her into one of Bowsers castles and Mario save her. That's it, that's the story.
Gameplay:
I don't play much pinball unless it's a minigame so I'm no expert. Each level has several little boards that have a special goal to do to get a star, and these stars are used to open doors to get further in the game. You also find and buy power ups that can help you get stars, like an egg which is an extra ball, an mini mushroom that lets you enter small holes, and lightning which hits all enemies.
This doesn't sound too bad, if it wasn't for the fact Mario is hard to control. A major example would be trying to get in a door. Sounds easy, til you actually try to aim him at the door. and if you open all the doors in a room they close again, adding in the annoyance. You can ask anyone with more experince about pinball to see if its good, but it's not fun to me.
Presentation:
The two things this game does right is that it looks good and sounds good. The design is a pseudo 3D style which looks very nice in my opinion. The sounds are you standard Mario sounds and the music is good, with the Frosty Frontier theme being my favorite.
Verdict:
It's just not good. I tried to give it another chance, but I didn't like it. Don't get it. Watch a Let's Play if you want to.
