    some cover arts

Hi there! Been hellishly busy lately, especially now that everything's returning to some variation of normal.

Did a fair bit of ponywords in spite of that, both new and old. Though I haven't really been keeping you guys up to date on the deetz since... Christmas, looks like. Time to rectify that.

    Merry Christmas!

I had been busy prepping something thematic for the occasion but alas, I couldn't finish in time.

    So have another story instead!

    a quick September / October check-in

First off, not dead! That's a start!

Second off, got vaxxed, which may or may not have played a part in the whole not being dead thing. Aftermath of the first jab was hell. Second one apparently was too, according to my upper arm. Otherwise, all's good!

Hello, to the few who still read this!

Title really says it all. Meant to put this out earlier too, but caught a disease called life. Apparently, the symptoms include setting some of your plans aside for it. This, as you guys may know, wouldn't be a first.

I have been somewhat working to make a short film, which was some compulsory assignment for my course. Fun, but still energy taxing, which is why I could only pop in to check the notifications before dozing off. Which is why I'm trying to make up for this blog post!

Some of you might remember that I may put sneak peeks of the latest chapters to my stories here. Well, I just remembered I once did that and thought I should give it a try. This time, however, it's not from any of my existing stories. It's from something new I've been working on ever since the year began.

Sneak peek below!!

"I b-beg your pardon, Your Highness?"

"You heard me, Moonlight Daze," came the demands of a frustrated alicorn princess.
"i want you to sing to me."

Moonlight Daze was at a loss for words, even as her companion, Midnight Oil, was snickering at the side. She was assigned to protect the Princess at night while the alicorn watches over the Equestrian realm and its subjects, both the nocturnal and the insomniacs. Sure, it wasn't as fancy as catching crooks or thwarting heists, but she loved the peace and quiet. Now, she was on the verge of giving the one overused excuse that her commander-in-chief has said never to use under any circumstances, be it a war with the gryphons, a hostage situation involving dragons and diced mushrooms or even that one late pizza delivery pony who got the order wrong.
"I didn't sign up for this," she let it loose.

"That doesn't matter," Princess Luna huffed, ruffling her wings.
"I just want you to sing to me. Anything works, be it a symphony, rhapsody or even a threnody will suffice."

"Pardon me, Your Highness," Midnight Oil came to save her friend.
"But wouldn't you occupy yourself with the dreams of your fellow subjects?"

"Please don't bring up the source of such rash torment."
A shudder ran through her spine and nerves as the princess recalled some of the many dreams she had traversed through. Some were too gruesome to be described in the story, some were equally perverse and a select few involved her, with rarer cases including both parts. Of course, what caused so much spite in her, however, was really unimaginable.
"It is expected of plebeian fantasies," the princess groaned.
"Our subjects are insipid. Prosaic, even. Their imagination is worn so threadbare, it irks me to even journey within their nightmares. Especially those of the foals! The horror! Innocuous, monotonous, bland in both feeling and color!"

Moonlight and Midnight glanced at each other, before glancing back.
"Meaning?" they asked in unison.

"Wherefore art thou asking the questions of a fool? It means they're all boring!!"

"But you used to enjoy those dreams!" Moonlight protested.
"You said they provide... what were those words... a nocturnal conviviality?"

"I did, until I realize how it was defiled with the mundane," Princess Luna rasped.
"Now then, what are you waiting for? Sing for your princess!"

"Oh, uh... I don't really know how to sing..."

"Then Midnight! I bestow you the honors!"

"You flatter me, Your Highness," Midnight began nervously.
"Though unfortunately, I'm in the same boat as Moonlight here."

"Then who can?!!"
The momentary shake of the walls would've toppled any regular structure down, especially if it was the rickety barn of Sweet Apple Acres. If it were not for Princess Celestia's precautionary measures, one of which involves soundproofing, the streets of Canterlot will be toppled into a sideshow that would charm a certain draconequus. But that's not the point at the moment. The point now is Princess Luna needs a companion. A musical companion, at best.
"Is this what my nights would forever amount to?!!" she cried.
"Another thousand nights of loneliness?!!"

"Have you tried asking Princess Celestia about it?!!" Moonlight managed to yell over the Royal Canterlot Voice, which managed to shift the castle's foundations north by one square millimeter, which also managed to almost teeter the planet off its axis. Suddenly, all at once, a tranquil silence befell upon the night. The sound of crickets came to clarity. The tension that lingered like a fog dissipated, snaking off into the cracks of the void. Thousands of ponies would finally get their well-earned rest.

Only to be woken up again by a single sentence that burst through the starry skies of Equestria.

"T'IS A BRILLIANT IDEA!!"

This is only the first portion, though there is much more done.

In summary, this story is about Princess Luna wanting a musical accompaniment when she watches over her subjects at night. It's my first public attempt at a comedy. I've done some before, of course, though only in slight inserts in some of my existing stories. Comedy was never really a big focus in my stories, as some of you may know.

I have two more portions of the story to clear, then it shall be ready for moderation. Let's hope it won't fail like last time *crosses fingers*

Alongside that, I'm also finishing up on the newest, most overdue chapter for Perhaps Death. It should be out by the beginning of February, so be sure to watch out for it!

Signing out for now!
