Fallout Equestria: Long Shots was a long shot.

I’m simply not going to be able to finish Fallout Equestria: Long Shots. I don’t have a good enough writing schedule to be able to sit down and do everything I want to do with this story. That being said I don’t want to leave hanging the few readers that I do have. I think I might salvage the first two chapters and make it a one shot. But, I present to you the out line of where the story was

Long Shots Chapter 2: a slight delay.

I'm going to go back and do quite a bit more editing to Chapter Two before I post it again. I really just wanted to get it done and posted but I really didn't like what I put out. So it might be a bit delayed.

Fallout Equestria: History of Equestrian Firearms

After looking at a post on Reddit about a battle saddle design I was suddenly inspired to come up with the history of Equestrian and Zebra firearms. I appreciate any comments and corrections y’all might have.

Fallout Equestria: Long Shots was a long shot. · 4:56am Jan 28th, 2015

But, I present to you the out line of where the story was going, and a deeper background of the characters.

When we last left off Long Shot and Cloud Swimmer met up with Long’s Father, Scatter Shot, and a gryphon named Grin. Scatter and Grin are aware that town and villages up north near the Everfree have been disappearing and have been sent to investigate.
They are part of a former Black OPs team, the Dragoons, that was under the administration of the Ministry of Awesome before the war and were based at the Army Base above Stable 78. There are only 13 members of the Dragoons that protect the town built outside the stable, and they keep themselves isolated much like the Boomers, only with less explosives and more bullets.
The plot was going to have the town of Crossroads fall to the army that has been destroying the northern towns that night. Our heros would be spotted and tracked down as they fled back to Stable 78 to warn them that this army was coming and that they need to ready their defences.
This army is about half-and-half ponies from Stable 101, and wasteland raiders and mercs. Everready is a younger Red Eye. His plan being that he would take his army and recruit and conscript as many persons as he could to take Fillydelphia and establish the beginnings of his industrial slave city. He needed Stable 78 for both the arms cache there and he was hoping to recruit the Dragoons.
Eveready lays siege to the town and the Dragoons hold the army back for some time, but eventually they have to fall back to the stable; the remaining civilian population, about 200 ponies, escapes through a ventilation shaft along with Long Shot, Cloud Swimmer and Shard, Long Shot’s ex that was mentioned at the end of chapter three. Grin, along with two other Dragoons, Minigun and Heavy Caliber, make a last stand inside the stable as it self destructs, luring in most of the Stable 101 ponies to their deaths. Red Eye retains most of his raider/slaver and mercenary forces and a loots a good deal from the town atop of 78, but it’s a very pyrrhic victory for him.
The civilians all go their separate ways, etching out lives wherever they can. Long Shot, Cloud Swimmer and Shard end up running a caravan business together right up until The Day of Sunshine and Rainbows.

Backgrounds (Age):

Long Shot(27): Born to an earth pony who lived out in the wastes by herself. She met Scatter Shot as his patrol came through her area regularly. She became pregnant and Scatter provided what little support he could give given that he was absent due to his duties to Stable 78. Long picked up marksmanship from his mother and would often go out hunting by himself as a colt to help provide from him and his mother. One day he came back to find a band of raiders had attacked his home, and were in the process of violently raping his mother at gunpoint. He shot his mother killing her, feeling it was the best course of action due to discussions and stories his mother and father told, and took out two of the raiders before his gun jammed and he had to run for it. They caught him and took him as a slave. After a few months they turned him raider, just as vicious as any of them. A year later Scatter Shot and his patrol ran into this band and killed most of them, Scatter recognised his son and captured him and took him back forcefully to the stable.
Training with the Dragoons helped Long get back to some semblance of normal, but his just didn’t fit in very well with normal ponies. Grin trained him on how to use a sniper rifle, the precise and calculated nature of long distance shooting helped Long focus, and he became better and better as time went on.
At 26 he was captured by raiders again while he was asleep scouting their camp. He fell back into old habits of being a raider. Six months later he shows up at Stable 78 with the scalps of his former raider clanmates. He returned to let his father know that he was alive and he intended to live outside Stable 78 in the wastes. Grin gives him a parting gift, his custom made anti-machine rifle.
After the events at Stable 78, he got back together with Shard, but had no children.

Cloud Swimmer (33): A part of an outfit known as The Hunters, Cloud's main duty to the Enclave was to hunt down ponies that broke the cloud cover quarantine of Equestria. Her and her squad were hunting down a rogue captain that was making contact with a someone on the ground, Eveready/Red Eye, they engaged with the captain's forces and were forced to retreat; but not before mortally wounding the captain. All but Cloud were cut down by the rogue force; luck, her namesake ability, and damn good flying saved her life.
While cloud swimming, the act of flying through clouds with out a pegasus's magic interacting with it, would seem to be her special talent, her real forte is her understanding of electronics. By age 24 she had reverse engineered the E.F.S. to a point where she rewrote the HUD software in her suit to take advantage of the unutilized information generated by the E.F.S. scanning device to have it read out distance, direction in 3D space, and size of the target. She kept this knowledge to herself and only used it to her personal advantage due to her distrust of the Enclave due the treatment of her family when she was younger. It was this advantage that got her into the Hunters.
After the Day of Sunshine and Rainbows she reunited with friends and family from the Enclave. She would go on to be a research professor at New Canterlot University and settled down with an earth pony knight from Applejack’s Rangers and had one child, much to their surprise a unicorn.

Scatter Shot (56): Long Shot’s father, Scatter is a good natured unicorn that has an affinity for shotguns. He is cool and collected in combat. Despite his name his prefered shells are slugs that he uses out of his rifled pump action 12 gauge. He also carries a short pump action that holds three rounds of buckshot for close quarters.
While Scatter is Long’s father, him and the mother didn’t share much more than a passing fancy. Scatter felt responsible for the child and provided what help he could and spent a little time with Long between his assignments as a Dragoon. Scatter would take up many lovers after siring Long, and probably had a few more bastards. After Scatter captured Long when he went raider he spent a few years working with him to help him recover from his ordeal in that time they became close and had a proper father/son relationship. It was during this time that Scatter and Grin developed romantic feelings for eachother. While the relationship was not sexual, they agreed that Scatter could get his needs met elsewhere, they were dedicated to each other emotionally more than either of them would admit.
Scatter died in the siege of Stable 78 when Eveready’s forces breached the walls of the town, he was the first to jump into action and single handedly stymied the forces entering the town long enough for the rest of the Dragoons to react, but he ultimately fell and was executed by the incoming forces. Originally I had the idea to have him captured and held as hostage by Eveready, then Long Shot would shoot and kill Scatter, rationalizing it like he did when he shot his mother, in an effort to take out Eveready. Scatter would die and Eveready would lose his eye, giving an origin to Red Eye’s red eye. I scrapped this idea and decided that Red Eye lost his eye during his time as a scout for 101.

Grin (198): Gimila ‘Grin’ Bloodfeathers, a native of Manehatten, joined the Equestrian military at age 18 at the start of the war. A year after the Littlehorn attack she was badly injured by artillery losing most of the bottom half of her body and her left claw. She was treated and stabilized by the time the Ministry of Awesome got a hold of her. They were working with the Ministry of Peace to develop prosthetics, to the MoP’s knowledge for civilian use, and fitted Grin with a partially cybernetic body, but she lost the ability to fly. She was injured again sometime later and had to have her body completely reconstructed. She survived the end of the war and spend the good part of the next century wandering the wastes helping as many ponies as she could building a few small settlements that all died out in the early years after the balefire.
She came across Stable 78 and helped them when they emerged and start the town that set atop it. Her scavenging of industrial equipment to fabricate just about anything the stable needed is credited as to why the stable was successful as a settlement.
Grin took a final stand in Stable 78 as Stable 101’s forces entered, deemed the best suited for combat inside a stable, as she set the Stable to self destruct.
Grin has a very wise and maternal personality and seems to be infinitely patient. She cares a great deal for Scatter even though they cannot be lovers. The loss of Scatter is a major factor in her decision to sacrifice herself.
Her body is invulnerable to pistol caliber fire but can be damaged by rifle rounds. Her body is self healing like Steel Ranger armor and she is much stronger than your average griffon. She can use any weapon on the battlefield from her razor sharp claws to shoulder fired semi auto anti-machine rifles.
In Project Horizon canon she would be part of an offshoot of Project Steelpony that was picked up by the MoA. And one of the techs working on her was Gaff Tape, Scotch Tape’s x number of greats grandmother.

Shard (23): Shard was Long’s marefriend before he was captured by raiders a second time. She’s a brash, hotheaded, and utterly brilliant unicorn. When other complained that Long was far too aggressive in hoof to hoof combat she was more than willing to spar with him and beat him to a pulp. That aggression and heated rivalry led them to blowing off steam in the bedroom, their fellow Dragoons would often say that their sparing was really forplay.
Growing up Shard was a bit anti-social and spent most of her time studying magic. Her application of her magical knowledge was what got her into the dragoons. Her special talent is the use of magic gems to power her spells, a feat that takes an incredibly precise control of magical flow. With gems she can create shields, grenades, and even mimic energy weapons. Later she learned to translate this control to her telekinesis, making her a deadly melee combatant.
Long avoided seeing her after he came back from his second bout of raider captivity due him thinking that their play fighting might set off his raider tendencies and wanted to spare her that. After the loss of Stable 78 Shard and Long rekindled their relationship and started a caravan company together.

Heavy Caliber (30): An earth pony Dragoon from Stable 78, he uses the only work set of power armor in Stable 78. Growing up he was a very handsome stallion but due to his heroic actions during an accident with the stable’s reactor his left side is disfigured from severe radiation exposure. He hides his disfigurement by wearing the power armor almost all the time except to shower in very early hours of the morning when nopony is awake.
Cloud and him form a bit of a relationship and he opens up to her a bit after she walks in when he's showering and is not revolted by his appearance.

Minigun (17): She once begged to fire one of the mounted miniguns that mounted on the town’s walls, under the condition that she has to reload all the ammunition that she fires. She fires every round linked to the gun, around two thousand rounds. It took her three weeks to reload all that ammunition, and after that she learned to control her rate of fire. Other than that she has a bubbly personality is is an obnoxious shade of pink.

If you have any questions or anything feel free to ask. And I do apologize for not finishing this story :(
