I don't even . . . . · 12:00am Jan 10th, 2015
Hey, everypony!
So, the last three days have been busy for me in the literature world. I'm prepping two entries this month for my off-site blog, I have one new chapter each for two of my stories, and I'm getting ready to submit a (non-pony) manuscript to an e-book distributor. But the biggest change: a new one-shot story titled "Snapped".
Now here's the weird part . . .
After being online for only two days, it already had more likes than any other story I've written for this site, even "The Gentle Dark" (which has been online since I've been a member) and "Rainbow Dash OOC" (which is well into the 33,000s in rating, my highest rating for a story ever). I've gotten quite a bit of acclaim for it in the comments, as well; it's even been added to groups without my knowledge (as much as I appreciate that, I really wish people wouldn't do that ). Thing is, though . . . it's a story about murder.
Specifically, when Spike finally loses his mind and does something absolutely unforgivable.
How a story so gruesome and tragic has become so popular, even featured on the Popular Stories bar, is beyond me. I can't tell you all how appreciative I am of the praise I've gotten for it, but I just can't figure out how something so macabre ends up close to being my best work. It's sort of grim, in its own way; makes me question the mentality of readers on this site and their state of mind when reading this stuff.
Not that I and my mental state have any room to talk--I made Spike kill Rarity!
Anyway, when all is said and done, I truly appreciate all the good things people have to say about my work. I've only been a member for five months, but I feel like I've come a long way since getting such harsh reviews for "The Gentle Dark". Now, all six of my stories have positive like/dislike ratios, and as much as I've been trying to improve on my first story, it's finally paying off.
Thanks again, guys; I hope you enjoy my work, and wish me luck with my book!
To be honest, people like fucked-up stuff. Why are creepypastas so popular? Why was Slendermane in the background of Pinkie Apple Pie? People like fucked-up stuff.
2712260 That's true. I suppose I could risk believing it's because my writing is getting more popular over time, but It still puts me off just thinking about it . . . .
lol Is that what Snapped is about? I havn't even read it yet. Been too busy rage quitting Kingdom Hearts to check fimfiction.
2712686 Don't sweat it; take a look whenever you get the time. In spite of knowing how raw and violent your stuff is, I still feel the need to warn you--it's pretty dark.
2712700 My stuff isn't violent....

When you sent me that chapter of your Kingdom Hearts story, I hadn't seen more blood since I watched Sweeney Todd. And can I get "The First of Many" out of my head? Why, no . . . .
2712735 Well one was an experiment and other technically didn't really happen.
2712850 That's as may be, but it stops neither from being quite visceral experiences.
