The Eternal Chapter · 12:11am Dec 29th, 2014
It's still not done.
This chapter is like a black hole; sucking words and time in, but never filling up even a little. I think I may go insane if this takes much longer, because at this point it's just plain ridiculous: even if I am still ill, and not much better than I was when last I blogged, this should be done by now.
I worked on this after coming back from hospital; for most of Christmas Eve; for about half of Christmas Day (even though I just got an XBOX One); whilst on the move on Boxing Day; for damn near all of yesterday and all this evening (I was out all afternoon visiting family) but it's still not finished.
It's delayed, again, and I'm not even going to bother saying it will be done by X date, because the way it's been going means it almost certainly won't be done by then. I'll be working on it as much as I can from now until it is done, but that's the only promise I can bring myself to make at this point.
Hey, on the bright side, this will probably be the story's longest chapter by a long shot, so that's something I guess. Going to be hell to edit, but at least you'll get more than the usual amount of horsewords by way of compensation for the wait.
I am so very sorry about this happening again, and I hope to have something for you soon.
Well... I don't know if it would help, but you could always split it into two if it's really that long.

I would split it, but there is nowhere in any of what I've written so far that I would feel comfortable ending the chapter, so I've been forced to continue until I do find such a point.
The 4000-word long section with Cadance might have something to do with this, but I'm not rewriting it a third time on the off chance the next draft is much shorter, and honestly I think it needs more than just a short scene to get across what I needed to do with Cadance in any case, so I think I'd better leave it be.
Ah well, at least the title for the Cadance sub-chapter is somewhat amusing (to me, at least), even if I'd have a hard time making a worse obscure music pun than "Subterranean Homesick Alicorn".
Thanks for the suggestion anyway, and hopefully I'll be able to end the damned thing soon so you'll have something to read.

Must be obscure, the only thing that sounds like to me is a Touhou game.
You could make the Cadence thing it's own chapter if there's enough stuff before and after it. Or just keep going as is, you've done well so far.

It's a spin off of the title of the Radiohead song "Subterranean Homesick Alien", which in turn was a spin on the title of the Bob Dylan song "Subterranean Homesick Blues". I thought it would be fun to continue the trend, and realised that the title actually fit better than the other names I'd come up with, so I kept it. Told you it was obscure.

Ah. Like I said, all that came to mind for me was Subterranean Animism. One of the few Tohou games I managed to beat (usually I have to content myself with consistently reaching the final boss).
Well, time to go listen to Radiohead.
