65% of the time Piercing Sight gets to it first.
Sight critics or compliments various parts in a private message.
Pick thanks Sight.
Sight calmly and politely tells me a part that is unacceptable to the religion we sorta share kinda.
Pick calmly and politely tells him he doesn't care.
Pick says he's gonna go over the chapter one more time before the other two touch it hopefully.
That happens about 10% of the time, partly because the others are on it in ten seconds flat, partly because Pick is a lazy jerk.
Wing Dancer gets his hands at it and starts working his magic.
Pick cries over how Wing is a significantly better writer than Pick.
Sight carefully sweeps up stuff Wing misses.
Wing and Sight state that the story is too unfocused and needs to be less random and crazy.
Pick cries as he rewrites anywhere between the whole chapter to about 30% of it.
It's usually unacceptable.
Pick rewrites it again.
Sight and Wing debate over how something should be said one way or the other, or how something is or isn't funny.
Pick grabs a bag of popcorn, waits for them to come to an agreement, and then rewrites it to something that wasn't what either or them said.
Pierce and Wing cry.
Insert a bunch of stupid jokes over:
Pick doing something wrong.
Unfortunate implications I didn't realize.
A funny type typo.
Pick doing that self depreciation humor thing that only he finds funny but the others don't care to call him out on.
It's done!
Now redo it because it sucks.
Pick cries.
Redo chapter.
Can it be better?
Yes.
Do you still care?
Yes.
Redo chapter.
Can it be better?
Yes.
Do you still care?

Why being an editor with amazing authors can be so much fun. Pardon me as I go yell at the authors I work with.
I once told a novice writer (keeping in mind I'm also beginning editor and have only edited for 1 or 2 people, depending on your interpretation of the concept) he should do something about an info dump I didn't even know what to do with. We ended up leaving it go, in part because it was the beginning of a sequel so people new to the series might need the otherwise annoying infodump.
Anyway, as Miles Away said, this was hilariously honest. That last part where you rewrite until you don't care anymore is actually quite naturally you think about it. You're aiming for an unachievable goal (perfection) with the intent of getting as close as you can.
