The last research paper I worked on has published at last.

The process is REALLY slow. I finished all my work on this 3 years ago.

    https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.2316969121

This one uses a lot of my histology and in-situ hybridization with RNAscope results.

But no more science for me. Now I build houses and driveways... and rip them apart too! It's a sort of yin-yang thing I've got going here.

A comedic scene from a new Clouseua story I'm fiddling with...

I just came up with this, and imagining Peter Sellers delivering the line had me laughing for 5 minutes straight.

Clouseau, "For you see, the murderer was... the bullet!"

    Guy in room, "The bullet?"

Clouseau, "Of course, no one would suspect the bullet of firing itself!"

Woman in room, "But that... that's madness!"

THE PIRATE KING BREAKS THE NETFLIX ANIME ADAPTATION CURSE!!!

Only the Pirate King could do it...

It's as good as possible. You cannot do such a goofy anime any better than this, and it's GREAT! I friggin LOVED it.

Last call for Bronycon items up on Ebay!

I'll be delisting all remaining MLP items Sept 1st to focus entirely on selling my huge stash of collectible magazines, which take up vastly more space than the MLP items. Everything here fits into a single flat box I can pick up with one hand. The magazines... weigh over 700 lbs total. Sooooo, kinda makes sense to deal with those ASAP!

So many stories... why must you authors torment me so!! · 1:38am Jun 28th, 2012

I can barely keep up with what I follow, and there are so many more that are interesting!

Arg! Why couldn't Pony have existed in this form back when I was in school and wasted my time on network television simply because there was nothing much else I could do! Days, weeks, maybe months of accumulated hours that could have been better spent laughing and crying with the ponies, boiling over with rage at the villains who harmed then, and ranting at the authors who keep making Celestia an evil tyrant and Twilight go insane and kill ponies! or Twilight become all angsty and suicidal. Or Twilight constantly screwing up spells and nearly ending Equestria. Or Twilight being mind-raped by Discord, the Nightmare, some-other-powerful-entity. Damn, what did Twilight Sparkle ever do to you people to earn such punishment!?

And then there's the Smooze. Ok, yes it could be made a terrible thing. Like the Grey Goo. But really, it's... the... friggin... Smooze. From that awful movie. WHY CAN'T YOU JUST LET IT FADE FOREVER FROM MEMORY!!!???

Anyway, back in the ancient times before cell phones and Internets, all I had were repeats of sitcoms I'd seen half a dozen times before. We didn't have cable. Heck, I can remember when cable first came to be. Yes, I am that old. You youngins don't remember what it was like to only have a total of 6-7 stations, public television included. My grandmother first got cable. Oh the hours I used to spend watching hurricanes form on the Weather Channel! Now THAT was entertainment! (neeeerrrrrrrd!)

Though, given that most of the stuff on the channels these days is utter crap, I suppose it makes little difference. At least back then, they all tried their best to make shows with quality. There was no 'reality TV'. Closest to that were the professional documentaries and shows like National Geographic and NOVA, and those at least were frequently compelling.

But now there is Pony, and lo! Pony has led to the formation of THOUSANDS of splinter realms! Never before have I seen a single show generate anything even remotely close to this vast variety of fan creation.

Alas! So many do not realize that their writing leads to their dark worlds coming to LIFE!! (yep, my mind voices tell me this is true, and they wouldn't lie to me. Like the way they protect me from the aliens working for the CIA with my magic foil hat!) And then I have to go into the alternate dimensions and fix everything. *sigh* It keeps me so busy. I had to make so many clone selves with Kage Bunshin no Jutsu just to keep up with all the messes some of you authors make of Equestria!

So, if there was a point to any of this, I have no idea what it was and I'm done now! :D

Having read a great many of your comments, and you do comment vociferously, I have been confused as to whether you are schizophrenic or just very enthusiastic.

I suppose it doesn't matter. The comments are amusing, and occasionally apt.

629724 WE'RE NOT SCHIZOPHRENIC!! THE FBI IS WATCHING ME SO I MUST SPEAK IN THE TONGUES OF ANCIENT EGYPTIAN GODS!!! SHAKA ZULU IMHOTEP FUGU WASABI!!! :pinkiecrazy:

(PS, I broke out laughing when I typed that last part. I amuse myself.) :rainbowlaugh:

629724 But really, sometimes I like to play the role of one of my oldest characters: a human who bears a part of the soul of the goddess Sekhmet, who banished herself after coming to her senses when her rampage wore off and was horrified that she'd lost control and nearly wiped out humanity... I kinda meld it with the Atlantis legend: she was sent to punish Atlantis for their gruesome and evil experiments to try and become like the gods, but she (as the protector of children) was so enraged when she saw what they had done to children (sucked their souls out, liquified them and tried to extract 'youthfulness', all sorts of horrible grimdarkness) that she went completely mad with animalistic fury and bloodlust... But of course she killed many children in the process. To punish herself, she tore her own spirit into 10,000 pieces and existed as these fragments in mortal souls, feeling all their sorrows and joys, pleasures and pains, disease and death, generation after generation to atone for her crimes. She 'died' nearly 20 million times (frequently as young children, as you know the infant mortality rate used to be exceedingly high), before her soul fragment knit together enough through intermarriages to become conscious again. And much wiser and more humble from her long experience with mortality, but also with an even more potent sense of justice and Ma'at than ever before.

She works often from the sidelines now, keeping her renewal a secret from evil gods and other enemies so they will never suspect when she sends her agent (whom I use as "The Deux Ex Insert") to destroy them.

This is just a brief summary of her entire character bio. I haven't even mentioned the wicked and powerful god Sutekh, the first god of chaos, father of Loki, Eris, and (since I became a brony and melded the stories) the draconequus Discord.

I put a huge amount of effort into my characters and the history of the worlds I create. That's one big reason why I have only posted one tiny snippet of a story, by the way. It takes me months just to get a story's outline to the stage where I feel everything fits. I have only ever written one long story to completion, and that was 10 years ago. And it was far from perfect as I was still learning the finer points of writing. Since then, work and the sheer difficulty I have in writing a story that suits my standards have sapped my enthusiasm, and I'm only just getting it back enough to begin to make a list of pony story ideas.

Most will be parodies, as I like writing comedy when I think of something funny, and I don't have to keep it to the same high standard of logic, since making a comedy or satire absurd is a big part of the humor and can be played upon itself for comic effect.

So you can see why, with the way I overthink every single aspect of my own writing, I can't stand to see stories that have glaring inconsistencies or hopeless-trap set-ups that serve no purpose than a platform for angst and tortment (and which could be easily avoided had the characters the capacity for even a slight amount of cortical synaptic activity). They stand out to my analytical mind like giant black warts on the tip of an albino's nose. :raritywink: And then when I read the comments and see people praising it the muddling mire of fermenting word manure... well... the flames of Tartarus do not compare! :flutterrage:

Yay! My question is answered! You're just enthusiastic.

629842 And insane. I'm a biologist, you see. We're all mad here. :pinkiecrazy:

What about Q? This would explain why he and Discord look and sound alike.

Also, know that due to your comments on the story, A Study on Alicorns: Casue and Effect, I am now going to be stalking- I mean, watching- I mean, following you... with my eyes. In a totally-not-creepy-way. :coolphoto:

637491 I tend to go a little deeper than linking characters simply because they sound the same. Q wouldn't fit into the universe of that particular story at all.

Really? Because even though they're both played by the same person, I thought they acted pretty similar and had nearly identical powers. As CR said, it was essentially John DeLancy who played Q on Star Trek, playing Q on MLP. My own personal headcanon is that it is Q, just as he appears in the MLP-verse. :twilightoops:

639634 Not really. A friendship rainbow wouldn't do a damn thing to Q. And, Q always had a point to his games, at least in ST:TNG. Discord is just a god-mode troll. :trollestia:

And the two universes don't really meld unless you have a specific scenario set up. It also doesn't work at all with my particular character's divine origins.
