I don't know what you had planned with the CMC going into the Everfree, I was looking forward to Twilight waking up next to Stupid and coming to all the wrong conclusions. Up to and including, can a Changeling get a pony pregnant?

Hmm, perhaps somepony else gets in on Poker's secret? Like Dinky or every other foal in Ponyville. They even form a club.
Perhaps somepony else tries to win Twilight's heart, Stupid gets jealous and shenanigans ensue.

First you need to change pace a bit with the Twilight / Doll interaction. Have her know that they didn't do anything last night. She hints that she a virgin, I think she'd have a pretty east time knowing nothing happened. As for the little make out session, that's a bit blurry. Just what really happened, and what was a drunken dream isn't clear. I think Twilight needs to feel a bit awkward about her coming on to him.
As for what the CMC are doing in the forest? No idea what you have in store for them out there. But I see a haggard Doll dragging himself back into his closet just as the sun rises and wakes Twilight.
Honestly, myself, I'd open with just that. Dragging himself through the door in the pre-dawn hour. Wave to Spike who is making breakfast, Painfully climbing the stares. A wistful look to Twilight, before closing himself in the closet. Then just as he doses off, Twilight wakes him up to apologize about last night.
Put candy and cane in the same sentence.
Let me start by saying that this is definitely one of the funniest stories on this site, but I feel like the chapters have gotten just a little formulaic lately: Chapter begins, something shocks Twilight, she hurts Poker/Stupid, he shrugs it off, goes and interacts with somepony else for a while, then winds up hurt by whatever was going on with them, Twilight shows hints of real feelings for Poker/Stupid, something else bad happens to him, chapter ends.
A lot of the humor (for me, at least) comes from watching Poker's abnormal reactions to things and Twilight's embarrassment, and I'd love to see more of those things explored. Just off the top of my head:
Twilight gets tricked/argued by her friends into going on a date with Poker.
Since Poker has apparently gotten some insight into Twilight's mind, he might announce embarrassing facts about her where others can hear.
Poker is unable to heal himself after some injury or other (pick an excuse: ran out of magic, horn got damaged, Twilight put a restricting spell on him for some reason, etc), forcing Twilight to nurse him back to health.
Twilight realizes she's developing feelings for Poker, and in a panic, she orders him to act like the opposite of what she would see as the ideal mate, just to help her regain control of herself.
Rainbow/Rarity/anypony that's attracted to Poker's pegasus form, starts flirting outrageously with him, with or without Twilight's permission.
Discord. The possibilities are endless.
After his success with Fluttershy and Big Mac, Poker winds up 'helping' either those two or other couples with their relationships.
Anyway, assuming you were hoping more specifically for advice about what the CMC were doing in Everfree and what will go down when Poker goes after them (it's 1 AM where I am right now, so here's every ridiculous idea my tired brain could cook up. Maybe one of them will be halfway decent):
CMC were hoping to run into some kind of fey/fae, like Poker, so they could learn more about him.
CMC run into a manticore/pack of timberwolves, and need rescuing.
CMC were trying to get their cutie marks in yet another arguably suicidal thing, that happened to involve a dangerous forest at night.
CMC were holding a secret meeting about Poker, though I have no idea why they wouldn't do that in their clubhouse like normal.
CMC were visiting Zecora. There are plenty of possible reasons for that: insight about Poker, help pairing him up with Twilight, they want to get him a soul of his own (I remember him telling them something about not having one), cutie mark advice, help improving Fluttershy and Big Mac's new relationship, etc.
Poker finds them at Zecora's. All is well.
Poker finds them being attacked by a monster. He gets to be an action hero for a bit, though he's covered in cuts and bruises by the time he fights it off, and Twilight blasts him the next morning because she's half awake and thinks he's a zombie.
Poker finds them doing something or other, but they aren't in immediate danger, and takes them back to town.
Poker discovers that they've been fillynapped by something in the forest, and either goes after them himself or wakes up some of the mane 6 to help.
Poker never actually finds them, and spends the night searching the forest and getting into trouble, only to learn that they went in, did something harmless, and left less than a half hour later, not long after he started looking for them.
Poker runs into a changeling that he doesn't know.
Poker, the CMC, and Zecora. Uh... something happens.

I guess that's all I can come up with for tonight. I hope at least some part of this has been helpful to you, and I look forward to reading the next chapter, whenever it comes out!

Throw a bit of an over-arching plot into it, but never directly talk about it. Allude to it, mention the noodle incident, have both Twilight and Stupid see a crazy event in different ways, Twilight things A caused B caused C solved by D, Stupid sees himself setting up B only to be thwarted by C, and D happened because he wasn't paying any attention at all. I know this is vague, but I've always found that people giving me a plot was always harder than me being inspired for getting over writers block.
Dont involve Chrysalis... Like i know you mentioned her and all but dont do it if you dont have something awesome with her. By that i mean non blandly evil.
