Season Eight Episode Reviews: Molt Down

This week is a Spike episode? What a re-”molt”-ing development this is!

Let's look at “Molt Down,” the episode that will surely be perfectly normal and have no long-lasting repercussions on a character's appearance.

Season Eight Episode Reviews: Break Up Break Down

I dread going into this week's episode. For today, we discuss matters of the heart. Romance, love, heartbreak, and all that rot. Which means we run right into the most loathsome of all fandom constructs, the kind of thing that destroys friendships and leaves the most brilliant of minds curled up helplessly in a corner, foaming from the mouth:

    SHIPPING.

Season Eight Episode Reviews: Non-Compete Clause

We've had a string of good episodes the last few weeks. Whether it be shapeshifting seaponies, an actual Celestia episode, or discovering Starlight's dark phase, we've had lots of fun and plenty of laughs.

Today's episode is about Applejack and Rainbow Dash competing.

    The good times are over.

Happy Cinco de Mayo, everyone who cares about that! What better way to spend the day than watching a cartoon about horses dealing with their mommy/daddy issues? Well, tough, because that's what we're doing. This is “The Parent Map.”

Season Eight Episode Reviews: Horse Play

So hey, it's a new episode. Surely nothing to be excited about. Just another standard episode of a cartoon pony show.

    Only it's a CELESTIA EPISODE!

Prepare for extra spicy biased scoring as we look at Best Princess' newest episode, “Horse Play!”

Comic schedule has changed a bit · 2:25pm Dec 17th, 2014

Seems we got the Equestria Girl's holiday special before Issue #26. And I really wanted to see if they could dig themselves out of the hole Twilight put them in.

That said, this issue was...well...not particularly great. Especially not worth the eight bucks being asked. (Seriously, why?) The story's a bit of a mess, it has one of the weirdest answers to the ponderings of where Sunset has been living all these years, and the art is sadly on par with the Annual from a year ago. Oh, and they misspell Maud's name. (Seriously, WHY?) Other than that, it's fairly enjoyable, and while the loopy way it connects the holidays in the human world to Equestria's Hearth's Warming Eve is a bit forced, I did enjoy that they were trying to work in some of the cosmology here, and that the issue at least addresses that things are not totally back to normal by the end.

There will be a full review, probably this weekend. (I want to get a fic update out by Christmas.) In the meantime, take heart in the comic's moral: cyberbullying is bad and wrong. Or as the Internet puts it, cyberbullying is wrong unless:

* You're threatening to rape a woman for disagreeing with you about video games.
* You're calling a man a rapist because they're male.
* You're advocating killing someone because of their race.
* You're spouting bullshit conspiracy theories about how everyone with a different political or religious belief than yours is plotting to kill you, so you must kill them first.

In other words, go to hell, Internet.

I have been wondering about Sunset's living arrangements, it's true. Me and everyone else, I suspect.:raritywink:

Here's your answer:

Also, for all those on Derpibooru who have nothing better to do but call each comic and its fans pieces of shit: fuck you.

Huh, so she does live at the...Wait.
How did Twilight not notice that first night?

Wait, so, she's been sleeping in the library too?

...does this school not have a night janitorial staff? Or people who come in early enough to notice that there's someone living there?

...do you think that when Twilight bedded down in the library Sunset came in looking to go to sleep after a long day herself, saw Twilight, and got pissed because Twilight was using Great Expectations as a pillow and that's Sunset's favorite pillow?

On the one hand, they didn't catch Twilight. On the other hand, Sunset would have had to do this for years. Eventually someone would catch on.

Then again, considering how she was basically the single most evil person ever for most of her time at Canterlot High, they likely didn't report her because they were taking delight in how she is apparently a homeless pauper and how freaking uncomfortable she would be come the dawn. Seriously, sleeping on a rock-hard surface HURTS.

This is one of those instances where I'm actually really glad that the comics are pick-and-choose canon.

I think I'd like it if Sunset Shimmer actually came across her duplicate, who was going to a private school rather than Canterlot High and is really, really wealthy but with super-detached parents (in a TV-Y7 kind of way). Sunset lives with her, somehow managing to convince her of the whole Equestria thing (Or else human-Sunset saw an advantage to having a duplicate running around)

H!Sunset: "Are your parents really going to be okay with this?"
Earth Sunset: "Just watch. *ahem* Mother, father, I found a duplicate of me from another world. She's going to be living here from now on."
Mother: "Just make sure to feed her and walk her regularly, dear."
H!Sunset: "See?"
P!Sunset: "Wait, does she think I'm a dog?"

H!Sunset was for all intents and purposes actually raised by her parent's butler and maid staff, who just aren't paid enough to care about a duplicate of Sunset living with them now.

What the actual fuck?

She was... sleeping in the library? The same library that Twilight.... Uh.... huh???????
