I've been watching this anime up to s2e6 before it finally hit me that pretty much every end (or near to end) of each arc, involves many characters having a tendency toward spontaneous emotional crying. I'm sure Alibaba has shed enough collective on-screen tears to fill a large bowl
Granted thought, people are dying or suffering and stuff, but I still lol'd.
Blues: you are a bad person holo.
me: nuh uh.
blues: those child soldiers just watched the woman who brainwashed them into thinking that she is their mother get beheaded.
me: that's nothing...
blues: they saw It Happen right in front of their eyes.
Me: pffff... that lady was crazy and was only using them
blues: like how you're using me?
me: im not using you
Blues:you're Using Me Like A Conversation Partner.
me: no im not
Blues: yes you are.
Me: *shakes head in denial*
Blues: holo... get a life.
Me: I already have a life... why are we talking about this? What the heck was the original topic?! Oh yes, that's right, im not lonely, end of discussion!
Alibaba? Is this anime about a young ten year old mage who ends up with a ton of girls with various combat abilities helping him?
isn't that how a majority of emotional feels anime work though? it's part of their bait and switch tactics.
nice little convo you included. funny to read.
Does it get better? I stopped after episode one because they typecasted an idiot into a hero's role...and not in the way he's been previously typecasted. Alibaba's voice was very grating...and for some reason, they asked a women to do ...the kid's voice. It's not unusual, but in this case you can tell the voice actor is a woman, and that's not good when you're watching a male character.
*gives holo a hug* there there.

No. There is a mage-like child though. It has lots of characters that are met all over the world, but no harem group.
2641957
Yes, but I don't usually fall for it though... (yet I binge watched half a dozen episodes in one go)
Thank you. ^_^

Omg, you have got to keep watching it. It gets so much better! The characters have hidden backgrounds, that's to be expected, but it's just how well they end up using their experiences to solving existing problems that makes this anime very entertaining. There's a wide range of conflicts encountered from trying to make peaceful diplomacy despite cultural identity, to a country's economic downfall causing poverty and subsequent revolts, to personal reason and involvement. I really do like the variety here.
I know I said that crying is pretty much involved in most of the endings, but who wouldn't after losing a friend? They should probably have some sort of grief counseling or something, but seeing as there tends to be a lot of huge time-skips every once in awhile, I'll assume that's where they get themselves back together. Either that, or due to the time period they don't have any such thing and have to suck it up until they come across a emotional trigger and then the waterworks start again.
Also, Aladdin is heavily implied to be this world's version Jesus, so I dunno how you would feel about that.

I dunno why you've giving me this, but okay.
*hugs back*

even so, the tactics are still there, embedded in your mind. when that one feels anime comes along and it gets its hold on you through its feels, you will then know that those....you know, not gonna lie, kind of have no clue where i'm going with this now. guess i should stop.
your welcome
2643960
I dunno what you're going either, but I laughed.
Thank you.
2643972
good good. just letting you know, that humor you might think i did on purpose was all accidental.
2641986
What's wrong with that? Kids of both genders have a higher pitch, so it would make more sense for a woman to voice kids than a man. Besides, Aladdin sounds fine for a child.
2643956
I was in a hugging mood.
and thanks for the return hug, needed it after what i had to do at work today.
2643981
Sure.
2643999
Hard day today?
2644002
holo, dear, you should know me by now. can't make someone laugh on purpose to save my life.
2644004
Not even if you were trying to tickle them?
2644008
........i dislike the fact that what you said is the main way i make my nieces and nephew laugh and that it works. how did you know that?
2644019
I didn't, but that's nice to know. ^^

quick, distraction excusememe.com/pics/images/1301133732_funny-pictures-gifs-cat-kiss.gif
2644002
verily.
holidays in retail is murder.
2643951 Well...I've read it, and I think I'm passed what amounts to the first season.
2643998
Second...it's an obvious female voice for a 'kid' anywhere from 13-16. ...Like having a cat with the arms of a squid; unappealing and mildly unsettling.
2644027
2644066
I can tell it is.

I sense that the anime and the manga have a heavy diverge at the very end, since the anime ended as one giant battle after another without fully explaining all the lingering questions.
I thought he was about 6 or so years old at the start of the series. The wiki says that he's 10 at the start. I still think its okay, but then again I've only started watching anime in sub relatively recently so I might not have a good perspective on japanese voices.
2654330
lol i guess the distraction was a success. sweet.
2654330 ow it has gotten worse...... I'm getting off work at midnight every night now until Christmas.
2654330 I...wasn't talking about the subs. Come to think of it, it wasn't Alladin, it was Alibaba. Erik Scott Kimerer never should have gotten that role.
