Writing

Whelp, it's getting to be that time. I have been getting notes together since August and even in contact with an artist. I have even begun writing.

I'm a bit of an old hat at fanfiction but this is the first time that I am throwing my two Bits into the ring of My Little Pony, so a question does occur to me.

When it comes to writing an AU, is it considered proper to open it up like the show's pilot? I plan to definitely make changes, but is it all right to follow a format similar to the two episodes that started it all, or is it considered "cheating"?

Either way, it is to be a different world, with different but familiar faces.
