New cover art! · 10:25pm Jun 25th, 2012
Cover art has been added to the story. This is temporary, and a more finished version will replace it later. A few things to note about this: I don't like how Spitfire's mane turned out and may change it as well. Also I am ashamed to admit that I totally cribbed Trixie's pose from another picture. I hope you can forgive me, since this is only like the third or fourth time I've drawn ponies.
In other news, chapter six is underway.

Man, I suck at blogs...
Hmmm, I agree about Spitfire's mane but it's pretty nice!
I don't care, I still enjoy your story, and cover art can only add to it
And it's awesome too :3

That's a pretty good picture, I think Spitfire's hair looks just fine, nice and mussy although I have to say I've always had her cutie mark as the burning bolt in my headcannon; lightning bolts being sort of a standard motif around pegasi whose special talent lay in flight (hence the "Wonderbolts").
Good to hear that a new chapter is in the works and I shall greedily devour it once you finish
EDIT: As a little addition, you may find this really cool. the second chapter of the new "Bechdel's Law Enforced" story has some of the best descriptions of Wonderbolt Aerobatics I've ever read.

Thanks. Glad you like it. And it does look a little... poofy, doesn't it?

I've always imagined it to be some sort of cometary motif, what with her name and all, but that's just me. I always thought the lightning bolts were because they had so much to do with weather. And thanks for that tip on the story. I'll look into that when I can for the upcoming chapter focusing on her.
196503 just a bit. But that's pretty close to how Spitfire's hair looks in the show, so no issues
Oh and ur story made me happy

Poofy maned Spitfire is good, her mane should look sort of unruly.
Spitfire's name is a reference to the British WWII fighter plane of the same name, and in fanfics tends to also describe her personality; that being "a person, especially a girl or woman, who is of fiery temper and easily provoked to outbursts."
I think the reason that the headcannon of bolt cutie marks being related to flight skill is prevalent is because the only pegasi we've seen with bolt cutie marks are Rainbow Dash and her spiritual predecessor, Firefly; as well as it being emblazoned on the Wonderbolts flight suits. The Wonderbolts themselves certainly aren't associated with weather management since they're mainly a flight group doing air shows and apparently working in a limited peacekeeping capacity (hinted at by "Secret of my Excess")
