Or as close to it as I'm going to go.
For those of you who don't know, I started writing about ponies in... Good God, it was back in May 2012. I wasn't really comfortable writing pony stories back then, so I decided to write a crossover based on a game I have been playing since December 2009. Yep, I've been playing Mousehunt for nearly five years now, and I can still remember the nickname of the person there that introduced me to MLP:FiM, Solar Powered (his favorite pony is Celestia, go figure).
Anyway, this isn't a blog post in which I reminisce, or even one where I promote the game. Some of you might have noticed that MLMH hasn't updated since October. Those of you on the MH forums (I'm looking at you, Draco Dei), might have seen that I haven't actually written anything on it since April, and It just takes me a long time to remember to post stuff here. And I'm sure at least one of you people must have heard that I'm suffering from writer's block.
"But you've uploaded chapters on other stories since then, right?" you might be asking. And you'd be right; I have. I've rewritten one story completely, and started two more. However, I have not stopped thinking about MLMH. It is my favorite story I've written, born of cooperation and positive feedback. As such, I have written about 6,000 words placed later in the story, placing the total at a whopping 52k words, plus a few hundred.
I faced a dilemma a while ago, with three options. Do I...
1. Cancel the story, publish the rest of what I have written, and leave it alone forever?
2. Write other stories, hoping to cure my writer's block?
3. Ask for help?
Obviously, I chose option 2. However, the effect has been minimal, and the next MLMH chapter stands half-done. So, now, I turn to option 3.
I'm going to swallow my pride and say it: I need help. I don't care whether it's for this one chapter or for the rest of the story, I want to bring on a coauthor. I can be the editor, but I do have a few basic requirements for any prospective help:
1. You have to be able to write English fluently. Not perfectly, but fluently.
2. You must have a Google+ account, as I have uploaded the file to Google Docs.
3. You can't give out spoilers. I have an editor's version with notes and incomplete chapters. Those are to remain secret until finished and published.
I also have a few rules for the story itself:
1. No smut, no blood.
2. OCs (original characters) don't get major roles. The story focuses on the group of six and their journey through Gnawnia and beyond.
I'll assume that anyone with interest in this knows at least the basics of MH and/or has read MLMH, and has some basic knowledge of MLP.
If you are interested, message me here on FimFiction, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
I regret not being able to help, never having played Mousehunt. I'll have more access to games when I get a new setup, since I can barely even do art on my old one, but that doesn't help when it comes to my unfamiliarity with a lot of games. I hope you find someone who is willing and able to help!
2630929 Mousehunt is a very lightweight game on Facebook, or on its own site. For that matter, there's also an app for both android and iPhones. I also detail the basic mechanics in the first few chapters of MLMH, and link the game's Facebook page in the first chapter. Thanks for the comment, though.
2631209 lol, shows how much I know. I guess I'm not on Facebook much. Too little friends there. Hopefully someone here will offer to help.
I'd suggest commenting on it in the Crossovers forum since you'll get views from people you don't know who are familiar with Mousehunt. That's what I did ;)
