Dead Story Cleanup

So I have spent the last hour and a half going through my favorites list cleaning up. It's really depressing to see how many promising stories never had a follow up, but what hit me harder was when the authors themselves leave the site. If I go to a user page looking for a status update or the like regarding stories, then I hope to find an explanation of why the story hasn't been update in thirteen months. It really hurts me, though, to see that the user hasn't been online for most of that time. I don't know why, I don't know these people, I shouldn't have any reason to care about what websites they put stories on, but it really does hurt to see that. At the very least if you decide to leave, please write a goodbye or something. Too many amazing stories end up sitting "incomplete" with their author having been offline for nearly two years. Don't do that, please.
