Update 11/25/2014, Editing News and chat · 11:14pm Nov 25th, 2014
Okay. It’s been officially too long since my last blog post, so I decided to give you guys a bit of an update.
First, I would like to thank Biker_Dash for helping me fix the issues that inevitably crop up with the voice dictation software. That being said, as a lot of my editors are still being crushed under the weight of “real life”, there are still some general editing positions that I would like to fill. I sent a couple messages already, but if anyone out there has extensive editing experience, shoot a message to my inbox.
Also, for the editors position, it is preferred that you have writing experience as well. This is because the voice dictation software doesn’t work that well with Google Docs, so I’m looking for more suggestions than I used to. Before, I would just want you to point out the problems, and let me fix it on my own. This way I learned a little bit better. But, because of the current situation with my hands, it’s a lot easier if you can actually provide suggestions. I may still wind up changing them, but the suggestions on their own will save an awful lot of damage to my hands.
The good news is that I’m finally getting used to the software. The proof in the pudding for this is in my progress tracker. For those of you haven’t seen this yet, check my main user page. Off to the right, I have a progress tracker. It lists the approximate number of words for each chapter that I have written. I update it every so often. I would say that since I’ve started using the software, I’ve probably written somewhere in the vicinity of 40 to 50,000 words. I’m not kidding either. Check the actual chapter list. I have completed chapters 26 through 47 on my initial right. This means that I am only a few chapters away from having more chapters written but unedited and unpublished, then I do chapters written and edited and published. Thus far, the total number of words I have written but unpublished is nearly 150,000. Pretty cool, huh?
Now, chapter 26 is more or less done, including editing. However, the artwork had a few technical delays, which we couldn’t really do anything about, but it is progressing again. I wanted to have some other things ready for the book to launch, including the next chapter of DI, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. I think it is going to be just chapter 26. This having been said, chapter 27 is currently being edited, so I’m building up that edited backlog. As such, the good news with this is that once book two does start, I’ll be able to get that next chapter out a little faster.
The thing here, though, is that my editing speed is far far lower than my writing speed at this point. This is normal, really, considering the sheer amount of editing I normally have to do. It’s probably only going to get worse as we get to the areas that were dictated by voice dictation software. But, I’m okay with having a backlog. This does mean that having experienced editors able to make good suggestions is all that more important. I have enough of a backlog now that I would be happy to release at a much faster pace than what I have been. In fact, with his voice dictation software, if I get my sleep schedule and health in order, even if my hands are still messed up, I can write between three or four chapters in a week. Now, that is an upper estimate. It’s more likely to be around two, especially since I’m starting to branch off in some other things as well. Still, two chapters per week is a pretty darn good pace, and as I get more used to things, and find ways to make my voice last longer, and again, optimize my schedule, that number could increase despite being busy with other things.
Now, going forward, I do want to try to stick to at least one chapter per month. This will enable me to set up a Patreon account. For now, I just have a little tip jar link in my bio box, and I would much rather have a Patreon account. If I can even get a modest amount going there, it would be a tremendous help, and I would be a lot more confident launching more fiction (both original works and pony works).
All that having been said, I’m starting my writing little bit late today, but I am getting a going. At least, as long as I have the privacy I currently have. Meanwhile, I will be in chat. If I lose privacy early for some reason, I’ll simply continue on editing with chapter 27.

Woohoo great to hear all the good news!
Funny that I got an ad for speech recognition. Aside from that, I'm amazed at how much you have written but unpublished, is it all just an editing hold up?
