Why real life is slowing stuff down · 8:36pm Nov 25th, 2014
Hey there readers and... others? Maybe?
I've noticed a few times in a row now I've been updating slower than usualy which, really, wasn't so big a deal because i only have my own schedule to keep. However, a month's hiatus is rather lengthy so I thought I'd just give a quite summary of why things sometimes go slow. Normally I wouldn't worry so much, but I can completely understand how, as a reader, a fic suddenly going silent for longer than normal can be stressful. Fanfic abandonment is a real concern for readers and I think we're all aware of its constant threat.
So, to ease some minds here's a basic run down of why I might be gone for a while without any real explanation;
First of all, I have a full time job. Because of this I usually only write on weekends because I'm too worn out after work to sit down and focus for an extra couple of hours. Of course, if something is happening on a weekend it could mean I won't have time to get to writing, and I have to wait for the next weekend. When I'm busy like this, I'll sometimes work on part of a chapter and try and get back to it when I can during the week, but generally I tend to wait until I can devote proper time to it.
So, the last month was pretty terrible as far as time went. And when I DID have time to write, I'd be stressed out due to other things happening. Deadlines at work obviously, and for some reason that hit me pretty hard for a while. After that, I had a guest staying in my house for a week who can sometimes be a lot of hard work to be around. After that, I had a full weekend attending a family birthday. And then, finally, the last weekend I intended to work on Chaotic Neutral again, we had an upset on Friday and my mom had to go to hospital for something. It wasn't serious, thankfully, but the anxiety of suddenly hearing my mom needed a doctor did not fuel my creativity much.
I finally managed to write on Monday and Tuesday evening on what I'd worked on before things started piling up, and this is what was uploaded this afternoon. I do hope you enjoyed it as I enjoyed writing it quite a lot.
As for the next few weekends, this upcoming one I have a convention where I will have a stall I need to attend, so I'm not sure how eager I'll be to write when I get home afterwards. And the weekend after that I have a rather important test scheduled, Although I will probably be fine with writing on Sunday or so if I'm in the right frame of mind.
So yeah... that's basically it. Once again, just filling you guys in so it doesn't seem like I'm just ignoring or getting bored with my story. Life just tends to happen.
Hopefully that clears up any worries out there. Thank you so very wonderfully much for all your support, comments, input, corrections, speculation, and kind words. I am endlessly happy by the insane amount of feedback I'm getting on this thing. I'm not sure my brain can even process it correctly.
Of course, the inner annoyance that is low self esteem keeps pointing at those handful of downvotes on the story... but I try my very hardest not to let it discourage me. I am very very far from any kind of confidence when it comes to writing... but the continued comments telling me that there ARE in fact people who enjoy my silly ramblings are enough to strengthen my resolve and keep going. If I was actually better practiced at writing those downvotes would probably not even register with me... but being inexperienced and unsure of myself... well you get the idea.
Anyway, that's it really. I hope you all continue to enjoy the upcoming chapters. And let's see if, once I finally finish, I can do a repeat performance and for once in my life write a second story for a franchise. That would be nice.
Cheers.
