    Promises and Positives

So, after my blog yesterday that was essentially just me bitching and making excuses, I thought I'd do the opposite here. In terms of Studies into the Magic of Friendship, (terrible name, right? I'll get something better later), I've thought a lot about where I want to take it. The thing about fighting games, is that they have to be able to show a character's personality with very limited

    Excuses and Complaints

So, I know I don't have many followers, but I feel the need to justify my lack of progress and give a little status update. In the last year and a half of my life I essentially did nothing. Most of my day was spent on my computer or playing video games. It was during this period that I really got into MLP and started writing my story. In July, I finally decided to go get a job. I figured it

    Hello, I've got a story!

So I've released the first chapter of my Street Fighter crossover. I really enjoyed writing it and will make sure to keep going. For the future, I have a few ideas for stories and I look forward to using the rich FiM universe for story telling.

So, after my blog yesterday that was essentially just me bitching and making excuses, I thought I'd do the opposite here. In terms of Studies into the Magic of Friendship, (terrible name, right? I'll get something better later), I've thought a lot about where I want to take it. The thing about fighting games, is that they have to be able to show a character's personality with very limited gameplay to work with. Street Fighter is fantastic about this. There is a little bit of lore you can research if you want specifics, but for many characters, you won't get much. Because of this, I have the opportunity to write these characters in the way that I want, and I can change a few things to fit my needs. Dan is my absolute favorite from the series and I look forward to writing about him and his shenanigans. For those of you that don't know, he's essentially a very unlucky man that watched his father get murdered in front of him, but instead of becoming Batman, he becomes the series comic relief. Not sure what they were thinking with that one, but I can dig it. So, as for that one-shot I was considering, I'll give a bit of a hint. A long while ago, I was reading Silent Ponyville 2 (great series, by the way), and I saw something in there that made me google something. And that something triggered me watching a show from my childhood, and now I will be putting a similar thing into my story cause why the fuck not. Call it copying if you want, but this is something I am need to put into a pony story.

Now, as for real life stuff, I feel I should talk about the positives of my job. I may not care for it, but I can say that I get up everyday and contribute something to society. It's a nice feeling. At the deli, I have to deal with so many customers everyday, some are just great people, and some are entitled and unreasonable pieces of shit. Either way, I've really, really gotten better with my people skills. I've made friends with just about all of the other deli workers. The only ones I haven't are my manager, and this other guy who keeps talking about how much food experience he has and how he's so great and this or that, but somehow manages to literally fuck up everything he does. I don't mean to be insensitive or anything, but the guy is basically walking autism. He doesn't understand like any social cues, and it's really fucking frustrating. Anyway, I've also worked on my leadership skills. The deli, being understaffed like it is, I occasionally find myself in a position to start giving orders. It's not really my job, but sometimes when it's dinner rush and we a have a million things that need to get done, someone needs to have a gameplan to keep everyone on the same page. In case you don't know, most delis don't just do meat and cheeses. My deli is responsible for fried chicken, grilled chicken, rotisserie chicken an assorted hot case, an assorted salad case, frying chips, making sandwiches, and a few other thing. Now, when it's dinner rush and you have line of like ten people, three employees, and you are low on chicken, shot starts getting real stressful. There's a very satisfying feeling to being able to beat a particularly hectic rush. So, I suppose another benefit to my job is that it got me in shape. First few weeks were awful. My feet had never hurt so much in my life. Didn't help that I spent most of my day propped up in bed on my laptop (kinda like now). So my feet got a lot tougher. I can usually work a whole day now and usually not feel sore at all. I haven't really noticed it, but I've been told I lost weight. I'm a bit on the overweight side. Nothing too bad, but there's definitely room for improvement. It's also nice to now a bit about meats and cheeses now. Pro tip, Dietz and Watson Baby Swiss is amazing. Hell, I'll just make a little list of good stuff: DW Santa Fe Turkey, DW Gourmet Chicken, DW London Broil (so rare it still has some moo), and DW Black Pepper Turkey. There, so if you ever go to a deli, try those. Also, whenever you are going to get food at a place like a deli, be nice to the staff. Sometimes we give things to nice people. Like for example, I had so EMT's come in a little after close last night. I still served them and game them like triple potato wedges since the guys were nice and the wedges were about to get thrown anyway. Okay, I'm sure this got way off topic and too long at some point, but it's good to get this stuff out, ya know?

Tl;dr? I'll write again one day. Life isn't all bad. Dietz and Watson Baby Swiss is baller as fuck.
