So... this post is mostly asking for your opinion on something.
I was talking to a friend about my motivation with writing, and why I haven't done any in about it month. He suggested it might be because I dedicate too much to a single chapter, how my chapters are always around 8,000 words, and it might be less stressful to think of uploading it in small bits, such as 2,000 word single scene chapters, instead of splitting it all up. Chapters would come out more frequently, hopefully, and I would maybe get some of the feedback I like so much on each individual scene instead of just the giant wall of text.
So... just wondering your opinions on shorter chapters? I have had this scene for my Blueblood fanfiction for quite a while now, and I've been wondering if it's worth uploading on it's own.
Your friend sounds pretty knowledgeable, and I would say if it means you have less stress, it's clearly the better option. Why stress when you don't have to?
If it means less stress for you then do it. Hope you can relieve that stress somehow.
I definitely think it's worth a shot.
In terms of feedback, do you have a go-to editor that takes a look at most of your stuff? I've found that having an editor I trust is a great way to keep me going, since I know they'll give me their no-BS version of what they see.
It makes sense. I usually write at least a thousand words a day unless some inspiration has me to make me write a little bit longer. Writing shorter chapters always gives me some mental breathing room and I think it would do the same for ya too.
I think it would be a good idea.
