Question for WRTMI readers · 4:49pm Nov 10th, 2014
I've been playing around with the idea of breaking up the last few chapters of Act 2 with intermissions, because apparently I'm Homestuck. The reason I've been thinking about this is simply to prevent the need for boring exposition dumps to explain what other characters (Scootaloo, Luna, etc.) are up to while Rainbow Dash is off doing whatever minor task she's up to (the main plot). We've last seen Luna zap herself away by tackle-teleporting the ol' warlock and appears to be playing cat and mouse with her, and the last intermission ended with the Crusaders accompanying the griffon twins of the Outcasts on an alchemy-related task that may have hilariously awesome results.
Basically, I'm at the point where it might be prudent to shift the character focus away from Rainbow Dash more often, but I'm not comfortable with the narrative leaving her head, so to speak, unless it's outside the standalone chapters (1-37). I want to give my readers a choice: Would you guys rather see the other plot threads get expanded in Intermissions, or discover the important details side by side with Dashie, leaving other miscellaneous details up to the imagination?
I don't think I count as a reader because I haven't started the story yet. From the one chapter I read, I still really look forward to reading this. As for what to choose... I haven't the slightest of ideas. I feel like I'd rather discover the important details side by side in the same chapters. It will help things stay in perspective when it comes to time and all that... maybe. I don't know what I'm talking about. Whatever you decide or think will work better.

Okay. I think side by side is good on one hoof. Since t shows important stuff imutaneously as Dash. Since those other charachters who aren't RD have important things they are dealing with and we're left in the ddark since it happens off screan.
Doing intermissions might be good too. Since that way you don't split between POV's as much. Although rather than Intermissions. POV Chapters that follow certain individuals / an individual in that chapter. And if a group of characters interact / share a chapter like with Spits & Dashie. You could split the chapter so both segments get their attention.

Well, I understand what you're getting at, even if you aren't too versed in the story. If I grouped them, the different character scenes, in the same chapter... I'd ensure they're simultaneous events.
2587529 I wouldn't devote chapters specifically to certain characters, as I could use intermissions for that. I think I will simply detail another character's encounters and events side by side with Dash, as necessary. Probably with a line break.

That'd be best (line break I mean).
