    Quick Update

I do apologize for not getting the next chapter of The Light of a Candle out, but I've been preparing for the upcoming move and just haven't made the time to write. I've been debating on which perspective to go with and it's been kind of annoying.

Chapter 20 Update (I promise, it's the last one)

Chapter is now being beaten to death like the dead horse topics we love to argue over. Pick a topic, and I'll drag out the corpse.

    Should be out tonight!

    Chapter 20 Update

3300 words so far. I haven't forgotten. There were some changes I wanted to work through for one of the characters. I was not happy with the original concept and decided to delve a bit into Greek myth for inspiration. I hope you like it when I do publish the chapter. It's not done. There's one last bit to do for it before I ship it off to my editors for ridicule. I do apologize for the delay, but

Sunverse Notes · 6:57pm Oct 22nd, 2014

Sunset Shimmer has been on Earth for a few years now. Her self-imposed banishment has left her to learn a new way of life, her magic a thing of the past. Her past return to Equestria and theft of Twilight's crown had ended with her view of the world crashing down around her, leaving her a broken young woman.

Now, having picked herself up with the help of her new friends, she's barely had the chance to see the glimmer of hope and the end of her tunnel. Now the world is full of ash and panic. Digging deeply within herself, she helps lead a group of refugees on the edge of the Yellowstone killzone. She picks up other survivors on her way as they trudge east. Her personal losses eat away at her heart and the first grips of despair as her lungs heave painfully in the choking air.

Humanity is dying and she will die along with it.

Just as the moment of grim realization comes to full fruition, Sunset feels a familiar presence. Looking up, she sees her former mentor and mother figure. Celestia del Sol looks down upon her with relief and determination.

"I have found you," she whispers, sweeping up the girl into an embrace only a relieved mother can give. "Time is short, Sunset Shimmer. The magic holding the Rift open between the two worlds is not finite. I cannot open it again for another fifty years. I cannot take all of humanity with me to Equestria. I will give you a choice, Sunset. Come home with me, to your natural form, or stay and I will give you the tools necessary to keep those I cannot take with me alive. Come home, and you might find a comfortable life, a husband and perhaps a family of your own. Stay and you must become a beacon of hope in a world growing dark and cold."

Sunset looks back over the throng of humans staring up at the alicorn, some in tears, some in fear, all of them awestruck that such a beautiful thing could exist. She had worked so hard to save them, to help give them a chance. Sunset Shimmer knew each and every one of those two hundred faces she had plucked from oblivion. If there was anything Twilight had stoked back up within the former student of Celestia...

"I will stay, Princess Celestia." Her voice is firm with conviction, though the wavering at the end betrays her fears.

"I will prepare you to do what you feel is necessary." Celestia's horn flares with her magic. "This was to have been yours and I had hoped to grant this to you under better circumstances. This won't take but a moment." Suddenly, her magic erupts from the tip of her horn, blasting into Sunset's form. The girl stiffens, arching her back as her eyes go round. There is no pain, only a sense of an infinite void around her. Her body elevates off the ground as Celestia channels living light and breathing darkness into her former student.

"Sunset, Rise."

The Sunverse expands in my notes...

...maybe. I haven't decided.

Well, I for one am very excited to see where this idea leads.

Sounds like a good idea and I like it, a lot.

2549797 Obviously, it's abbreviated as it was something that popped in my head. I wrote it down lest I forget and threw it in my growing pile of notes. I'm compiling a rather long list of stories...:unsuresweetie:

One line to prove that she is ready for Ascension

2549809 well, that is still awesome.
