So, as I sit here, writing out new chapters and stuff while enjoying an alcoholic beverage, my mind began to wander (as it tends to do occasionally) and I just had to write it down.
The thought: Molestia is Celestia's version of Nightmare Moon!
Now, I know what you're all thinking: Blackie, we already know this. It's kinda common knowledge, you twit. Well, yes it is, but there's a reason behind it!
Back before her banishment, Luna was shunned for her night. Essentially, she was dislike, distrusted, and feared by ponies everywhere. Everywhere. So much negative energy. So, when the Nightmare took her, it turned her into something to be dislike, distrusted, and feared. Nightmare Moon was created from the fears of Equestria.
What does this have to do with Celestia and Molestia? Well, the opposite can be applied to Celestia, right? She was/is loved by her subjects. Loved, trusted, and revered. So much positive energy. Now, what would happen if a Nightmare took a hold of her? It would take all of those positive emotions and twist them. She would become Molestia and love all her subjects. That's why Molestia can get away with all of the shit she does: her ponies trust her, and the she uses that to her advantage!
So, long story short, Equestria's distrust in Luna turned her into evil Nightmare Moon, while their love for Celestia turned her into Molestia.
"But wait!" you cry, standing up and flailing your arms in the air. "What about Twilight and Cadance? Nothing like that ever happened to them!"
Oh really? So you're saying that there isn't an instance of Twilight, the Alicorn of Magic becoming slightly corrupted? There isn't a moment where she acts out of character because of something happening to her, say... receiving an abnormal amount of magic from three other alicorns?
Oh, wait, there is!
You see! More proof! Twilight goes from a mare who is terrified of failing Celestia, who doesn't like fighting, and who goes out of her way to help ponies, and becomes a princess bent on tearing Tirek a new one. She becomes drunk on power. Magical power.

You see that rainbow coloring in her magical blasts? That's harmony magic... based off of the magic of Harmony. The Elements of Harmony. Her friends. SHE'S BECOME DRUNK ON MAGIC AND IS USING HER FRIENDS' ELEMENTAL POWERS TO DESTROY TIREK! And she continues this until she gives up all of her magic, which is when she returns to normal.

And as for Cadance, FUCK CADANCE!
She doesn't count, because she's a filthy, little shipper. That's all she's good at: helping ponies bone each other. You know who else is good at that?
That's right, you pink bitch. You're about as useful as a dating website. At least with the website, I can see who they are trying to pair me with BEFORE I get screwed over and can never find a girlfriend and end up being sad, lonely, depressed and eventually die alone in a rundown shack that can barely be called a "house".
Aaaaannnyways, there is actually a reason Cadance can't become corrupt.
The Crystal Heart is basically absorbing all of the love and affection that Cadance's subjects have for her. It's acting as a sponge, protecting her from the energy that would normally slowly build up until she became some twisted version of herself. However, this will never happen, and you can tell that by her cutie mark. She and the Crystal Heart are linked, and as long as it exists, she can't be corrupted. She will always be pure of heart, ready to be there to try and talk the other alicorns out of their madness.
...cause that's the only thing she's good at, besides being a filthy, little, voyeuristic whore.
...I think I might just stick with story blog post from now on.

I'm actually glad you kept Twilight's tail petting in the latest chapter; seems to be a force of habit for her to do so when she needs comfort, like how Max bites the inside of his cheek when he's contemplating what to say or do next.

Actually it was Luna's assumption that the ponies didn't appreciate her caused the problem. So Celestia's altered side would be based on her incorrect assumptions about what ponies think of her. So Molestia works, but 'All will make merry under pain of death' works better for the ancient ponies.
But for Twilight, it would have to be what she assumes (incorrectly) ponies think about her.

Actually, that's the other 3 alicorns. You have Cadance's teal, Celestia's gold, Luna's dark blue, and Twilight's magenta, with the white core coming from the sheer brightness.

I don't think Twilight was drunk on magic. She did find her friends kidnapped and her home destroyed in front of her. I don't know about you, but if something like that happened to me, I'd be pissed enough to throw Kamehamehas at the problem until it died.
As for Cadence; what do you expect? She's basically Equestria's Aphrodite.
Rainbow power ponies are a terrible thing, I think it would be in our best interest to kill them before they laid eggs.
