Those who can't do, teach. And those who can't teach, make MLP audio books, apparently.

Hello, world! · 4:49pm Oct 11th, 2014

So, I did my first reading, Chris's wonderful fairytale The Sweetest Water.

It was my first reading, and I sort of forgot to ask Chris's permission to make a reading his story until after it was finished, but luckily he's a cool dude like that.

Mistakes were made. For all my editing, I didn't notice that I stumbled over "their thistles" until the video was up on youtube, and it just seemed like way too much work to fix at that point. I really need a pop filter, because editing out plosives in post was time consuming and only partially effective. I've ordered a cheap one from Amazon, and it should be here next week. Editing in the growls and snarls in particular was incredibly time consuming.

I definitely think I'm going to be switching to Garageband for everything but cleaning up the raw recordings. I'm having a really hard time wrapping my head around Audacity's user interface, and non-destructive editing seems like it would be a great boon to the workflow. Looks like that hackintosh will come in handy after all!

But, the experience overall was immensely fulfilling, and I'm excited to do more. I've got my eye on Where Have the Stars Gone for my next reading, but I probably won't start until my pop filter gets here.

So, yeah! Hi, FIMfiction!
