tl;dr (too long, didn't read): I've been messing around with the new bookshelf option, and I won't be posting anything but updates to Sappy HiE anytime soon. The bookshelf system is uber awesome by the way.
You read that right. So if you follow me and don't care much for these blog posts, don't despair. I'm working on slowing things down and ironing them out. I like to be very organized and very thorough, and as you may have noticed, I've changed things around a bit.
First, I added a bunch of stories to my 'Favorites' Bookshelf.
"But why would you do that if you already favorited the story before?"
I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but to be completely honest, I've been manipulating the favorites list since a few weeks after joining the site because the site lacks an archive-style list. Meaning: I added literally everything I read to the favorites list. I am truly sorry about that because it took away the value of the rating. However, if you did see that I added a story to my favorites bookshelf any time today, that was real.
The second change was converting my old favorites list to a regular bookshelf titled simply that. Since my previous favorite list wasn't accurately named for the way it was used, I displayed it on my user page as "Stuff I've Read." You probably already noticed that it matched up exactly with the list of favorites.
Thridly, I said some things in previous blog posts, comments, etc. that I didn't end up following through with. I gained a few followers since I wrote the stories I did, and some even just for comments and such, so for that I'm going to say Thank you. You're the reason I will keep doing this. As a thank you, I would normally produce some form of reward like a story or an individual thanks for every follower. Sadly, what I had planned isn't working out so well. It probably won't be ready any time soon. It also happened to jam a wrench in my updates of Sappy HiE, of which I already recieved a positive comment about how quickly I update. Sorry for the long wait for those who were expecting that.
I could make 1000.5 excuses as to why I've been slightly inactive and unresponsive lately. I could say it was life, writer's block, school, or even loss of interest. It's not any of that. It's not even laziness. I've just been working on drawing things so that I could make my own cover art for future stories. I envy anyone who can make any kind of art and make it presentable, and I'm hoping to one day be able to write that well. I'm working on that by not putting out a bunch of crap.
Since I don't like making a ton of blog posts, I'm going to try to address everything I wanted to later here. Credit is given where it is due in each individual case, but I do wish to send some special shoutouts to some people who have inspired me. I wanted to wait until I wrote a few more stories to do this, but what I'm currently working on won't be posted on my page anyway, so now is the best time to mention it.
Thank you to my pre-readers and inspiring authors, Phenrys and Sparky Brony. Hopefully, my next story will actually be a guest chapter in one of Phenrys' projects. It's already off to a fantastic start.
Another thank you to my personal friend, FerretXcon. She's not very social online, and she doesn't really write, but every idea I've had for a story, she's been the one to review and give me the yay or nay to it.
And just for good measure, a little spoiler: Up to this point, I have strongly considered writing clop, but have refrained for several reasons. Normally, I would be afraid of anyone in real life finding out about my devious behavior online, and this site is but one small exception. The coolest thing about writing on fimfiction is that I rarely ever see anyone that reads here in real life. Since I'm safe here, I wouldn't really be bothered by posting mature content, especially because of my views about censorship. I belive firmly in the right to write what you wish, including mature fanfiction. So it's not because I'm a prude or any reason like that. The real reason I haven't written clop yet, and hope to not have to, is because of both the rating system on this site, and my confidence in doing so. Someday, I will probably be able to write some erotic fanfiction, but until then, I'm working on improvement. I have to start sucking somewhere! pun intended The rating system isn't really a barrier so much as a check. I have to make sure I'm making my stories entertaining without getting unnecessarily graphic. If the story is meant to be romantic, it shouldn't have 3 full chapters of gore. It just doesn't fit well. Cute may mix with sexy in some places, but I'm not good at making it do that yet. Long story short, expect mature stories eventually, but not until my graphic vocabulary is expanded.
Well, well, well... I've been a little worried about you recently! I'm glad your ok, and am very much looking forward to you updating Sappy HiE.
I'm extremely flattered that you consider me to be an inspiration. I never, ever, thought I would inspire anyone. I think you're pretty amazing in your own right. I love getting comments from you, they're always fun and informative! Please, keep up the excellent work.
