Just to let you all know, I might not be very active for a while. Presently, my family has it in their heads that I spend entirely too much time on the computer[a certain phrase involving black pots and kettles comes to mind]. To this end, they have changed both the Wi-Fi password, and the admin password on the Wi-Fi router. This of course means that I cannot look for a job, but then again, they're apparently doing this to punish me or something. Yeah, I don't think they entirely thought that through. I mean, it doesn't exactly discourage me from being on the computer when I still have a fully functional desktop and many games to play on both it and my PS3.
I technically probably shouldn't even have access to my mother's Mac, but when opportunity provides itself...
So yeah, until they stop being retarded, I won't be able to work on any of my writing [since I work entirely from Google Documents], look up symptoms to the possible bladder stone or UTI I awoke with, seek employment, or see how much a trip to Soldier's Memorial is going to cost me out-of-pocket to find out why there's been pain in either my urethra or bladder since I woke up to pee this morning. I'll be completely dark.
You know how I'd punish MY kids/those under my care? Actually go outside WITH them and GO places. It's so easy to tell your kids they're spending so much time on 'on a computer' and take away access to stuff without giving them a proper alternative outlet to do something with their time.
Hell, are they even aware you actually WRITE and READ for fun??? I'd be commending you for paying attention in English class! xD
Maybe have a movie night or game night? Why not read a book together? Go shopping? Maybe play at the park or ride bikes... Sheesh, I don't know! It's just such an ineffective way of parenting that annoys me the most.
Oh well, least now you have no reason holding you back from beating ALL the games! :D
Putting aside the fic writing issues, parents today just do not seem to get that 75% or so of job apps these days are done online. I had a big blowout with my dad before I got my current job over this fact when he accused me of pretty much the same thing.

Yeah, apparently "hardcopy applications will NOT be accepted" might as well be gibberish to some people. Or the fact that most resumes and applications are scored by computer, and only the top whatever percentage is ever seen by a human.
2516752 Oh did I ever pay attention in English during my education years ago. Always learning, when it comes to written word, as the sentiment goes.
2516968 Not to mention the fact that this is the worst job climate for inexperienced workers. I am literally stuck in the rut of "No work without experience/references; no experience/references without work." I'd be more than willing to volunteer, if they weren't so adamant on me getting a job and getting out. Post-secondary education? Oh yeah, I'll get right on those student loans. The only thing I can actually see myself doing besides writing fiction is maybe journalism or data entry, and honestly? I don't think either of those are going to pay off the student loans accumulated.
2517485 I know exactly what you mean. You literally have to know exactly WHAT their software screens for, guess their specifically picked keywords, tailor your resume and coverletter around THAT, and then hope you don't fuck up on the psychological profile/questionnaire. Hell, the amount of skill it takes to do that, they might as well be making that a mandatory part of highschool education [not that it would do me any good].
Incidentally, it appears my old man has configured the parental lock [timer wise] on the router instead. So at least I have SOME connection. Don't get why he'd configure it for around two in the afternoon, or at least, that's when I was able to pick it up, but I'll take what I can get.

I suppose the old man is tech-savvy enough that "fixing" the problem yourself isn't an option?
2517813 Root password on the router has been changed, yeah. In fact, the wi-fi extender [which my desktop is plugged into also seems] to be unresponsive to anything other than my desktop. Still can't connect on tablet or laptop, which is kind of bad because I managed to get some offline work done on something.
2517818 You can always grab the router model & serial, and look up the service password online. There's usually a default one that tech support can use to get in, no matter what the user sets the root password to.
2517902 I have already gotten my tablet back online exploiting WPS. Better to give them the illusion that I am not completely devious.
Ugh... I hate people who do that kind of thing to people. There's a guy on Fimfiction who's writing a story I follow, but his parents found out and essentially banned him from doing much with the site. Fortunately he got his story on EQD first and can sneak in to post a blog when he updates, otherwise I'd never know.
Apparently they're afraid that the "uncontrolled content" on this site will corrupt him and that he's incapable of controlling himself. (He read a couple chapters of my story to be a friend, but he quit once he felt it was going too mature for his tastes.)
Anyways...
