Damn these horsewords. · 9:32pm Sep 30th, 2014
So yeah, I haven't written a drop of actual novel-style creative writing since I was Sweetie Belle's age. But somehow between yesterday and today I managed to churn out something like 12k words based on the ghost of an idea.
I have no clue, man.
Sweetie Belle, now in her early teens, has chosen to keep her passion for video games a closely-guarded secret, fearful of the impression that she may give to those around her were they to discover the talent she holds for what has traditionally been a male-oriented pastime.
But after leading a team of online gamers into accomplishing a spectacular gaming feat the world has yet to see, this secret side of her will become emblazoned on her haunches for all to bear witness. As she struggles with the pressures of her gender identity, she will be forced to endure its impact on how others view her and her passion for this "thing" that she is now destined to love.
This is a story about two wildly different sisters who can't help but care dearly for each other, a group of friends struggling in the face of skepticism, and a young girl's journey on her path to self-discovery.
Ironically, the idea stemmed randomly from watching Jan's Button Mash shorts--in which Button always seems paired with Sweetie Belle, but he's doing most of the work--and it made me wonder what it'd be like if Sweetie Belle were actually better than Button Mash at video games.
It then spiraled into this messy, long-ish one-shot that ended up becoming heavily influenced by some of my personal experiences growing up surrounded by video games, and the social impact that it's had on my life.
It'll be published soon, once I figure out a title. Let's hope it's not absolute crap.
But just in case, uh... I may need some prereaders.
And maybe a cover artist.
I'd read it.
I can do it.
My health is back to safe levels, and I'm currently on break from college.
