All in all, though... very surprised by the new movie. I absolutely detest the first one. Idiotic, dumb plot, and the antichrist brad Flash, amongst other grave sins.
The new movie was an *immense* improvement over the first. Genuinely entertaining to watch apart from the antichrist's presence.

I couldn't agree more. The first movie was just ok, it happened and that's about all there was too it. Rainbow Rocks was truly excellent though. I love the focus on the music and the several nods to the fandom. And I truly thank the great and powerful one for stepping in before Brad and Twilight did the unforgivable.

Well, I liked the first one okay, but I agree that Rainbow Rocks is a big improvement.
As far as Flash goes, I dunno. I'm not crazy about them tossing arbitrary, obligatory romantic interests at the mane six, but it's not a deal breaker for me. My biggest complaint is just that he's underdeveloped. I guess I assumed they might do more with his character this time around, but... they didn't.
But yeah, like I said, Rainbow Rocks was awesome.

2494580 The problem is, to really get something that would be accepted, you'd have to have the character appear so often that they'd be a main character in their own right - appearing preferably in the series. But that would change the dynamic of everything, and not for the better.
Also, Twilight being attracted to a) a high school dork that thinks he's cool and b) a human instead of a pony is just unbelievably idiotic and makes no fucking sense. The fact that they were pushing it in this (with Twi's reactions to him) was just... ugh.

I agree with both of you on this. One Twilight falling for a human, when she has always been a pony. The romance did seem forced. I am glad that it did not stick within the rest of the show. Keeping love interests out of it. It gives the viewers more to play with, if they don't have any. Though, this I do feel may change in time. But yes, if they did, it could mess up the flow of the show.
Now, Rainbow Dash falling for Soarin in the show. .... I could see that.

I was sort of hoping to see Rarity falling for Fancy Pants. Well she seamed to. She even had a picture taken with him in Canterlot Wedding, wile seen dancing with him. I am sure it was him.
That white unicorn with the pink hue, and pink mane, he was seen with, very well may have just been his sister. She was not with him at all times, so I am going with that.
There was that odd infatuation Rarity had with Trender Hoof. I just could not see why. ???
But with him out of the way, maybe she would one day have another look at Fancy Pants. He did seem to like her. HE dose not seem to be royal. But well off enough to have what he wanted, and it seems he could have her if he wanted. They should work on that more, even if they don't really ever get together. I just like the idea of it.
