Howdy howdy! Despite the title's name, this is going to be a pretty cheery blog post!
So, the latest two chapters of "If you ain't..." came out, including the infamous chapter 9 that I was so worried about posting. SO worried in fact that I decided to hold if off a week, working on it on and off as I wrote up chapter 10...
... and the results were very positive! Yay! Thanks guys and gals; you really made my day!
Now then, I said I would do this last time so I feel as though I need to stick to it. Let's have a poll!
This is for those of you who have finished chapter 10! Although it looks like there's a light at the end of the tunnel, have no fear! We'Re NoT aT tHe ClImAx YeT! Mahahah!!
... Ahem. Anywhose; here's what this poll is about! As you may have noticed, while the jokes keep on a comin', the seriousness levels have indeed increased. So, here's my question for you guys; is the comedy tag now a bit misleading to those who are only now starting to read this story? Would it make more sense to drop the tag and stick to slice of life, despite the jokes that I'll still be adding? Tell me below what you think! I'll be totaling things up between now and when the next chapters are up, so you've got plenty of time to voice your opinions!
On that note, Chapter 11 will be coming out with Chapter 12 next month! I'm in the middle of exam season right now, sadly, so probably no updates this weekend... but that just means I can either work on the quality like I did with chapter 9, work on the quantity like I did for chapters 4-7, OR BOTH! How crazy would THAT be?

Also you make this decision hard. Because even if more jokes come to pass, especially now that Discord has arrived, it still has that couple of chapter bits of non-comedy focus. It makes me very tempted to say drop the comedy tag . Though I wouldn't be 100% sure because somehow you could pull the next chapters making this go a complete 180 from the semi-serious turn it was in. (until very recently)
Sadly I guess that doesn't count as an actual poll answer. Sorry for my giant wall of pointless text.

Let me make this perfectly clear to EVERYONE; the story is already set in stone! Everything with Discord, everything with Big Mac, everything with Applejack and Twilight and Rarity and Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash and Caramel and Mr. Cake and the climax and the ending+epilogue ARE ALL ALREADY PLANNED OUT, THEY JUST NEED TO BE WRITTEN UP!!!
All this poll is about is whether or not you guys feel as though the tags are now misleading. It's both a comedy and a slice of life, but it sometimes dips into areas that one doesn't normally see in a comedy, which is why I'm asking.

Okay, anyway I guess for the sake of purging any misleadingness, I'll make a more clear cut vote for removing the comedy tag.
Since we aren't allowed to use a more fine-grained tagging method, I just say make it slice of life. If you want, prepend/append (Comedy) or (Sad) or whatever to each chapter title, then people can have a more clear representation of how the story will be when they arrive. (Plus in text form you can use BOTH tags for some chapters! Ain't that a hoot?

I've only seen the chapter-text-title-tagging on one other story as of late, so I got the idea from that.

I feel the comedy tag should stay. Though do put a note in the title card that there will be sad moments in the story.
It depends on what you're going for. I would recommend a shift to a more serious tone, and off the comedy tag. And I'm saying this even though I hate sappy fics like the later parts of this. But I need to suck it up and say what is true.
It started off very comedy, as long as it ends with some comedy as well, I think the tag should stay. A comedy tag doesn't mean that every chapter has to be funny, or that none can be serious. It only relates to the general tone of the story.
