First ever blog post-Weird Fiction · 11:27pm Sep 28th, 2014
Almost nopony follows me so I don't really have to worry about sounding stupid. The Basic point of this blog post is that I have seen almost every type and variation of genre, except for one. One crucial thing stands between Bronies and the Entirety of Literature! And That one bit is . . . . . . .
Weird Fiction!
One of my favorite genres, and possibly the most misunderstood. In my humble opinion, the best example of Weird fiction is That by H. P. Lovecraft. He has inspired thousands of authors, even today. He revolutionized the genre, and still practically has a cult.
But I digress, he is not the subject of this blog post. Weird Fiction is. I can be hard to explain and harder to define. Coming back to my previous rambling- I knew thier had to be a purpose for that- Lovecraft defines Weird Fiction as this:
The true weird tale has something more than secret murder, bloody bones, or a sheeted form clanking chains according to rule. A certain atmosphere of breathless and unexplainable dread of outer, unknown forces must be present; and there must be a hint, expressed with a seriousness and portentousness becoming its subject, of that most terrible conception of the human brain--a malign and particular suspension or defeat of those fixed laws of Nature which are our only safeguard against the assaults of chaos and the daemons of unplumbed space.
I've always been mystified by how Weird Fiction combines elements of Horror, Sci-fi, Mystery, Realistic fiction, Adventure, and Fantasy in one. These stories frequently emphasise the element of horror because fear is supposedly one of our deepest and strongest emotions. It occurred to me that we should get some of this special writing on FimFic, until I realized why it might not be here. The whole concept is just so different from the premice of MLP;FiM. And it is usually only possible by the best of authors. But we have made diverse concepts come together before. And we have some extremely skilled writers here too. So here's to the hope that we may possibly see some of this in the future!
And please forgive the probable excess of rambling and idiocy in this post, those few of you who see it.
I don't think by your definition that weird fiction can even be called a genera.
It sounds to me like something that would be better classified as a branch or subgenera of horror, and there are plenty of horror and some lovecraft stories in this site.

3191315 Yes, it's a sub-genre, but it's hard to classify what it goes under. It kind of a weird hybrid thing, so most people call it a genre.
Thanks for being the first (and probably last) person to ever notice my existence.
3191882 That doesn't have to be the case. If you become more active on groups, you comment more often on stories, or start writing some stories that won't likely be the case.
There are many ways to get people attention, as you can see I haven't ever published anything, yet I'm approaching one hundred followers. It's all a matter of being active in the site and the community.

3191923 I comment on everything, but I don't really need to be noticed. The occasional reply comment is enough to remind me that, much to my dismay, I still exist . . .
As far as I'm aware.
3192510 That's good.
