How I became a brony

I know this won't be terribly important. It's doubtful that many people will read this, but i feel like sharing anyway.

Back in December of 2011 I was with a friend at his house. We were on funnyjunk and playing xbox it was just a regular day. After awhile my friend went downstairs to get something and I started to go through content on FJ when I found something. I found a Comic (it took forever to finally find this!)

Now I had never heard of a brony before, nor had I even heard that there was another season of mlp (I used to not keep up with that obviously). So when I saw this I was confused to say the least. I read the entire thing and even though I didn't understand it at the time I still thought it was pretty cool. When my friend came back I decided to ask him what it was about. Luckily he goes on 4chan often and told me that it was for bronies. Once again I questioned him and he explained to that there are adult males and females that watch My Little Pony. I was a bit surprised at first but then soon realizing that I have come across stranger things. I told my friend that I'll probably watch it sometime. He agreed with my statement and told me that he had been meaning to watch it but has just been busy with other things. We went back to gaming and not a second thought was given

Then about a month later on January 19 of 2012 a visitor came to my house, it was that same friend. I greeted him and invited him in. He didn't waste any time and told me that he watched the first five episodes of mlp. Remembering that I said to him that I would watch it, I asked him how it was. "It was actually pretty good" he told me with a smile. I felt compelled to watch it. Unfortunately I don't have internet at my residence. Which means when I am on it I'm at a friends house, but, I bought a phone at christmas that could use internet. So i watched The Return of Harmony parts 1 and 2. I instantly loved it.

Since then my love for mlp only grew as I watched every episode I have missed and watched the new one that came out every saturday. I was even more happy when i found that there was a absolutely huge fandom. I discovered everything that the fanbase had to offer and I took a seat at a computer and just kept watching everything become bigger and bigger. I try to keep up with all the latest news and such to stay as up to date as possible. Seeing our popularity and recognition from Hasbro increase almost daily puts a smile on my face that is almost as big as when I watch any episode of mlp. I want to be able to explain this love for mlp but words just don't give it justice, my only hope for non-bronies is for them to watch it and hope they understand.

As for problems with people there haven't been many. Mainly because people don't ask, but, when they do I am more than happy to tell them about My Little Pony and that I am a brony. I'm always proud to announce that I am. To me being a brony is more than just watching the show, its being able to let go of social stigmas and really live by the saying Love and Tolerate. But when it all comes down to it we're no different than any other fandom based around a tv show. Being a brony though will change the way you think, how others view you, and how you view yourself. I can't wait to see what happens to our community in the future my only hope is that we continue to grow.
