Every time I pass his house, those words cross my mind.
Just knock. Easy peasy. One simple little action. Knock on his door and he'll answer.
Of course he'll answer, the other voice would say. It is his house. He's not the one who up and disappeared to Celestia knows where for over a year.
You did.
You are the one who stopped talking. Who stopped waving. You are the one who stopped including him in your life.
You are the one who walked away.
And so I'll keep walking. Pretend for a moment that it doesn't matter. The past is the past and I am no longer the same person. I've changed.
Or have you? Have you really changed? Or are you the same little scaredy-pants you were from the start?
I'm certain I've changed. I can't possibly be the same person I was a year ago.
I don't believe you. If you had really changed, why am I still here? Why don't you knock on that door? Why do you keep running away?

It piled. I've felt ashamed I let this sit and gather dust for so long. Shame kept me away.
The very least I can do is let everyone know I didn't die in some tragic pirate raid. In regards to my activity on the site, only time will tell.

Ah yes, the compound effect. I vanished from a site for a bit, and going back kind of was intimidating after eleven months. It wasn't exactly a well founded fear, but I understand what you're talking about. Again, irregardless, it's just nice to hear from you again. Take your time coming back if that's what you feel like you need to do.
