So what's been happening with MN7? · 12:19am Sep 10th, 2014

A few people have noted my lack of presence lately. Quite so. I won’t drown people in details, but things happening have either taken my attention (Such as a temperamental new PC, thankfully all sorted) or put me in a mindset where writing would have been a bad idea for a number of reasons.

So where does MN7 stand right now? In short, nothing has changed at all. I'm not "gone", I never was. Don't worry yourselves folks. :)

The next chapter hasn’t begun writing yet, but as I remind everyone, writing is not the longest stage of production. In truth I can write a chapter in about 7 writing days. Planning always always always is the time sink.

The next chapter is 80% planned. All the events I want as in it with a first draft order, what’s left to do now is to fill in the gaps. (ie - Turn a hypothetical “Encounter at factory scene” into the exact details of what happens during said encounter) There’s two things I wanna check with my editors first too.

Chapter after that is about 80% planned as well. Again I have the scenes I need readied out in order with some individual planning to go into the in betweens and exact contents.

That’s as far as I’ll tell you for now, because what comes after…well, you’ll just have to wait and see. Suffice to say the ending is now locked in. Its exact scenes are planned to precise quantities.

So when will I get back to writing?

I’m working full time 40 hours from now till Christmas. At first I worried this might be an issue, but having more order and schedule to my life might help in the long run to use weekends to write and weekdays to plan/edit when I’m too short on time for a full writing session. So I’m hopeful this might actually help formalise what was previously a very scattershot schedule.

Hopefully, writing might begin this weekend. I’ll keep you all posted on how it goes. As ever, don’t worry yourselves if I’m quiet for a little. We are on the endgame of the story. Nothing would make me stop now. I sometimes worry I lose story momentum with gaps, but that has never truly happened, it seems. FimFic’s stats just keep going up, after all, so I’m glad it hasn’t hurt anyone with that on any large scale, which was ever my concern. Suffice to say, just let me know what you think of things, especially at this stage of the game when my mind is (if I’m totally honest) surging with wondering what people are going to think of how this story will end…no matter what happens.

I'll be honest, that last chapter had me going. I couldn't help but squee when Murk and Protege had a moment together (I ship it!). I really hope that we will see more development between the two, along with Unity as well.

And if it would too much to ask...another Murky moment of "my favorite master" please :3

With ya till the end, Fuzzy!

I'll be waiting for the next installment eagerly, regardless of the time it takes. Godspeed.

As always, your acolytes await your next sacred writing with eager anticipation :trixieshiftright:

well I read this for the quality, so take your time, and I'll keep an eye out for it.

Take all the time you need.
As for what I think will happen: things are heating up. Now that the most warmongering commanders are taken out by Littlepip, there may be a chance that the sovereign Mall might be spared by the Enclave - barring crossfire and collateral damage.
There's also a chance of several cameos from the main series: Lion and Mouse, Ditzy, Xenith and Xephyr, the cyberdragon...
One hopes there's a way to inform the Celestia One crew to spare the Mall - it's heavily fortified and thickly populated, even moreso now that it's declared independence, so it could be considered a prime target.
I wonder if Murky will still be outside to see the radboom and the clear blue sky.
As for our story, we still have a few loose ends to wrap up: Weatherwane and the ghouls, the kids, maybe some karmic counteruppance for Wildcard, Sooty Morass and Wicked Slit - by the way, I loved the epic unceremonial sendoff for Wormtail. He deserved no less, but also no more.
And there's still the single SATS charge in Murky's PipBuck, that has "Shackles' head" written all over it.
