My desire to play Video Games · 8:20pm Sep 9th, 2014
So, I can assume that most people here play video games right? Right.......?
Fuck....
Well, if you do, then you've probably heard this question a lot. "Why do you play video games?"
And to most the answers pretty simple, it's because they're fun. They are rewarding and a way to kill time. But it's deeper than that. So much deeper than that.
In my case, I like getting better at a game. I like feeling as if I progress. That's why I enjoy Moba games, Western RPGs, and a lot of FPS games, because there I can visibly tell if I've gotten better. I like being the best I can possibly be, I want to see everyone behind me, asking for guidance or challenging me to become the next one to be the best. That's what really drives me to play video games, that's what makes them fun for me. I want to be the very best, like no one ever was...... I guess.
So, what about you guys, what really drives you to play games?
And if you tell me, "because they're fun." I will punch you in your throat.

Well, it depends in the game really.
An old-school FPS I play to blow stuff up. An Point-N-Click I play for the story and/or humor. An RPG is for the story and that feeling of gradually becoming a badass capable of raining down destruction upon all the poor bastards that dare to cross your path.
So, yeah, depends on the style of the game and the game itself. Both Shadow Warrior and Deus Ex are FPS but I play them for very different reasons.
Shadow of the Colossus.
I play games to escape the real world. Why sit around lamenting how the world is slowly dying when I can blow shit up in Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage?
The previous message was in no way sponsored by the Torgue corporation. And if you think it was, YOU'RE F@#*ING RETARDED!
