Love was a powerful emotion. The songs sing of great deeds and marvelous feats committed in the name of love.
But they never talk of the love that drives a reasonable man beyond insanity.
We knew Princess Celestia had fallen to the dark powers. We knew she'd have to be sealed away... or worse. What we didn't know was how far her knight would go to protect her. He would not be bargained with, nor reasoned with. He stood between us and her, and cut down any who dared advance.
They say her dark powers twisted his mind and body, that he became her mindless sentry. However, that is the lie we tell ourselves, to avoid the truth we witnessed that day.
For the thought that the power of love could awaken such savagery... frightens us more than any creature of darkness or shadow.
