Fate of "Blowing Through the Pages" · 3:41am Aug 31st, 2014

Oh don't worry about this being cancelled. No, far from it. I'll make this quick.

You see, the original plotline I had set up for the story is - oh how should I say this? Bad. It's pretty bad.
The settings are slightly more unique, but utterly it was going to pretty much be a hash fic about OCs teaming up with the Mane 6 to fight off a terrible evil. And what is this evil? Pretty much a cult that seeks to revive the old villains of Equestria, causing a rematch with Nightmare Moon, Discord, Sombra, etc. Pretty boring, amirite?
Which is why I placed it on Hiatus because I've been trying to think of another direction the story could go in. And then it hit me... while I was in the shower... again. (Why are all good ideas born in the shower?)
So you know that new story I just published, Cast in Fire?
I just realized that it has the potential to set up as a very good prologue for an even bigger Adventure, so why not expose and use it?

So I guess what I'm saying is that BTtP and its future seqeuls will be sporting a new villain instead of a boring cult group. Well, the main evil dude will have a cult, but they won't be the main focus.
Another good thing is that now I can up a wider variety of villain OCs. The main villain OCs would have been just creepy pony/griffin/minotaur leaders of the cult, but now if I use Cast in Fire as the foundation, I have the option of making even more unique characters as villain.

Don't worry about any rewrites happening soon though. Blowing Through the Pages isn't that far ahead in the plot where I would have to make any huge changes in order to make it fit to Cast in Fire's lore.

TLDR - Cast in Fire will be the prequel of Blowing Through the Pages, and thus will drastically change the direction of the series for the better. In other words: a reboot. But no rewrites luckily as BTtP is not that far ahead in terms of plot progression. Also the series' name will change from Scale Scrolls Saga to The CiF Series (a.k.a. The Cast in Fire Series)

Now... time to give BTtP a slightly different description.

I came back from a family trip and one of the first thing I noticed was this blog. My reaction to the title? Oh, please no, don't you dare to cancel BTtP! I'm glad It wasn't true :twilightblush:

But yeah, I like the story and the characters so far, but I wasn't sure where it was heading, And now that you told us, it sounds, indeed, pretty boring. I have still to read Cast in Fire, I just came home and I'm tired, but I would love to see more progress in BTtP.

And that happen to everyone, a bad story, especially if it is one of the first. I cancelled my first story before publishing it because I noticed the main character was a bad Mary-Sue OC with a tragic past. Too cliché. But you can save BTtP. The characters are enjoyable, just have to guide them to a different path.

what is that song from?
